Question Cordless wooden blinds in slide... broken.

So, the two smaller wooden cordless blinds in my 222RB slide both have broken on our first trip. They are designed to pull up and down by the bottom slat, and neither one has any "tension" now in the bottom slat to go up and down.

Soapbox time... why do RV's have such junky add-ons/materials? I'd spend a few more dollars and have the camper weigh a few more pounds to have accessories that are not so delicate and flimsy

Has anyone run into this issue? Is the blind repairable or is there a trick to getting the "tension" back in the bottom slat?

Thanks!

How to Fix the Tension on an RV Window Shade

I've had these before in other RVs. I had to keep moving the round thing at the bottom down to get it tighter to keep the blinds functioning. The problem was the screw goes into the thin wall material and not into anything substantial. I had a cord break and restrung it once and then dumped them for plastic 1/2 inch blinds. Not always easy to find the right size though. I used the provided clips to hold the bottom in place so they don't bounce around when traveling.

Another option is to use old time roll up blinds. They work well if you have tinted windows for some privacy during the day. When they are pulled down there is no air flow either.

If your cannot screw into a aluminum stud, use a moly type fastener.

Just be sure to use the shortest ones you can find, some the walls are pretty thin.
