Dead wire by ceiling vent in bedroom

A little while ago I installed a fantastic-fan in the bedroom. When I took the old vent down I found a few wires. One wire was running to the outlets by the front of the bed, one wire was running to the light by the front of the bed, one wire was running to the light in the middle of the ceiling, and one wire ended by the vent. I was excited because I figured that wire had to be there specifically for a fantastic fan. (these are not the wires for the 2nd AC) However, that wire is dead. I checked every fuse in the trailer, and I could not get power to that wire. What is it there for? My last trailer I spliced into the wire that went to the light and everything worked great. After giving up on that dead wire I did the same thing in my new trailer. The project went well and everything worked perfect....until I turned off the wall light switch at the end of the job and the fan turned off. All I could do was laugh. My last trailer didn't have a wall switch, so the wire I spliced into was a constant hot. Right now I am leaving the wall switch on and using the on/off switch on the light itself. After a month, climbing on and off the bed is getting annoying!

Has anyone else seen this extra wire? Was your wire hot? How can I get mine hot?

Maybe I will just install "the clapper"....

Did you tug on them to see if they were connected to anything? First time I took down my basement wall I found about a whole roll of wire in 6" pieces along with a 1/2 box of screws thrown around. That in yours may just be scraps they were too lazy to pickup.

I can't remember if I tugged on it or not. I'd say a left over wire is a good possibility!

I agree 100% on your point of lazy clean up. I spent an entire day with my shop vac getting all the sawdust, wire ends, and junk out of all the sealed compartments. I would recommend everyone open those compartments and clean them out. I did the hot water heater, stereo, main switch panel, inverter/fuse panel, under fridge, CO2 sensor, under the shower pan, etc. I bet I vacuumed out 5 gallons worth of junk. To me, that's a fire hazard being around all that electrical.
