Delam on corners of slide out?

So.. I can't imagine I'm the first person to deal with this.

My ST33FR has three cable-driven slides. All three have the same thing going on right next to the cable mounting points on the upper and lower outside corners of the slides.

Is this something to worry about? It appears to be growing. Is there a fix? If so, what is it?

This is not water caused as the camper has only been in a handful of rain storms and is dry as a bone. I store it in covered storage.

Here are some pics.. hopefully, this will help.

If you are referring to what appears to be some corrosion, perhaps it's galvanic corrosion due to dissimilar metals. This generally occurs in damp environments and is especially problematic in marine (salt water especially) applications. There are some engineering sites that you can look up metal compatibility for these applications buy searching for galvanic action or galvanic corrosion.

I'm wondering if the panel is too long and the expansion of it is causing it to delaminate.

This photo shows it a little better. See how it appears in the corners? It looks like somewhat of a bubble which is forming underneath the fiberglass. It seems to be beginning from under the mounting points and the screws that hold the outer trim on the slide.

I can press on it and it feels pretty firm. It may have some "sponge" although it's really hard to tell. 20220731_030301.jpg

Not sure how they build the fiberglass walls on an RV but I came across the word Filon. This product is used in some if not all construction of fiberglass trailers.

Filon is a thin sheet of fiberglass bonded to the wooden sides of the trailer. In your case it may be that your fiberglass, as expected, is delaminating from the surface underneath. Check with a fiberglassing company in your area to see if they can fix it without having to replace the outside shell. They may have a hack for this problem.

I don't think it is the slide mechanism that is causing those bubbles to appear.
