Hey Lloyd!

Summer has been a little different this year up here at 11,000 feet. Had a wildfire scare a couple weeks ago in the forest about a quarter mile behind our house. Caused by an unattended campfire..incredibly stupid! Saw up close and personal how effective helicopters dumping water can be, thankfully. We were warned to be ready to evacuate at a moments notice if necessary. Didn't get to that point. Also different are the amazing wildflower meadows due to last winter's heavy snows. Hiking, biking, golf with a couple Abita Ambers or Shiners after is the order of the day here. Left the Canyon Trail in Grand Junction for a few repairs on our way home in early June from the spring trip thru NM,AZ,CA,NV,OR,ID,UT and 6,500 miles on the truck. Probably go down there to pick it up on our way out on the fall trip after Labor Day. That's about it for now, life is good and we're healthy! Say hey to Barb and send coffee.

Russ

P.S. ...Frank...took a look at the floorplan of your new rig. Different kind of bunk room. Looks very nice!

That's good to hear all is well out there. I thought about you a few times when the news was talking about the fires out west. We could see CO. was in the midst of it also.
Did that helicopter souse you when it went over?
We are both doing good, Both healthy. We drug our old Cruiser out to WA. this spring to see the kids. Now since being back home it has been nothing but work work. Worst being all the clean up from the tornado that went thru here on May 16. We need a new roof on the house from hail damage plus new siding on two sides from hail. I consider us lucky compared to what the rest of the county suffered.
I haven't roasted any coffee for almost a year now. The green beans are getting to pricey.
Tell Joyce hi from the both of us.

What's this canyon trail you are talking about?

Frank:

Joyce likes to polish the woodwork when in Campground Driveway. Other than that, it's me on the road solo on my shorter mid-winter or mid-summer trips.

Lloyd:

We traded the Sunset Trail for the Canyon Trail in '14 to enter the wonderful world of fifth-wheels. Signature picture of the Sunset in my driveway is a tribute to the second most reliable rig we've owned. Speaks well for what Crossroads built for you and me in '08! Canyon Trail is built by Yellowstone RV under the Gulfstream umbrella and has been the most unreliable and problem plagued unit we've had out of the seven other units we've owned since '03. More problems with it than all the others combined. Love the floorplan but the repairs are wearing me down. Lose sleep on the road wondering what's going to fail next and it's not due to lack of preventive maintenance. Constantly looking for a suitable backup if I get fed up.
Speaking of hail, we went to our storage lot in early April to start our spring trip, hitched up and headed to NM. Mind you it's below freezing when we hitch and our clothes are still in the truck to transfer at our first stop. Got there, set up, and discovered three roof vent covers and the bathroom skylight were all shattered by hail. Great start to a two and a half month trip. All were replaced in AZ.

Cool day here today, rainy and 58 degrees. Maybe a good day to go online and take a closer look at the Cruiser bath and a half bunkhouse?

Nope, many miles away north and south. Wind carries the smell, though. 61 degrees and rainy 'til midnight. Will help the fire fighting efforts. Thanks for your concern. Send coffee!

Goshen Springs, We stayed there in January for 10 days, was it cold 17 degrees but up to 38 in the day time. I will say this the framless windows do not sweet as the old window styles did seemed tighter, fireplace and one electric heater kept us warm as toast

Canyon Trail has frameless windows. Not a big fan other than looks good. One fell off the track on our shakedown cruise and had to have mobile mechanic replace pop rivets. Fox Mountain has double panes. Like a lot as easier to heat/cool and keeps more of the outside noise outside.

Not yet. Forecast to start at 3PM and continue 'til 8AM..1-3 inches. Expected snow depth keep going down as do the temperatures. 27 right now, might hit 18 overnight. Drained and blew out the lines in the new Reflection yesterday as we are leaving a week from today for Wyoming. Did not have a single item on a punch list from using it for a week's shakedown last month. Tightened one cabinet hinge. Thank you, Grand Design! Was kinda sad to trade the Canyon Trail with nearly new Goodyear Endurance which I put on last year..then discovered Grand Design makes the Endurance a "mandatory option" at $341.

Hope you had a good Labor Day. We burned T-bones and roasted corn on our deck in T-shirts and shorts yesterday. Have to wait 'til Saturday's warm-up to do that again!

Ahh, the good life huh?
Do you think Wyoming will be any better then what you are experiencing now?

I wish they didn't make those Grand Designs quite so tall. If one would have fit thru the door on my shed, I would have one now.

Yes, Wyoming will be better where we're going which is eastern and northeastern. Done Yellowstone and Tetons many times so thought we'd explore new territory such as Buffalo, Devil's Tower, maybe up to Little Big Horn. Our first stop next Tuesday is in the Fort Laramie area where it's forecast a high of 91. Still some good days left out there.

Brochure says my Reflection is 12'2". How tall is your shed?

Frank....you still read your namesake thread? Got a new rig yet?

My shed is 12 ft.
I'll be willing to bet your rig is taller then 12 ft 2 in. That is one of Grand Designs short falls. They don't know the height of their rigs. I've had numerous conversations with them about that.
Yes, you are correct. There is more good days out there yet.

I haven't seen Frank on the forum for quite some time.
