We just bought a Sunset Trail 24BH and took our first trip last weekend. Aside from the usual "duh" moments, there's one thing we still haven't figured out. When we left the house, the freshwater tank gauge showed empty. When we got to the campsite,we hooked up to city water. When we were leaving the campsite and dumping the black and gray tanks, we noticed the freshwater tank gauge showed"full". We never used the water pump; the pressure from the city water was all we needed. SO HERE'S THE QUESTION...why did the freshwater tank fill? Is this normal? Is there some switch to close off the freshwater tank when we're using city water so we don't have to lug around 40 gallons of water when we leave or waste the water by dumping it?

Welcome to the forum. More than likely the check valve at the pump isn't holding. There might be a small piece of debri from manufacturing that didn't quite get flushed out. If you still have water in the tank runthe pump and let the water come out through the outside shower, first removing the shower head(that way youcan water the lawn). After running the water for several minutes shut the pump off thenre-connect the city water hookup and listen at the water tank for water rushing in. If that doesn't solve the problem the pump is fairly easy to remove and take apart, or you can have your dealer look at it.

Sounds like a good place to start. We are never lucky enough to camp somewhere with city hook up

Thanks for all of the replies. Turns out it was just an open check valve on the water pump. All is good now...
