On Sunset Trail, cannot hook camera up under rear middle running light. Light appears to be just above ceiling. Drilled hole for camera wire, cannot go inside and up to light. may run it outside aprox 3 in , make adjustments for wire. Has anyone done this?

Not here. I removed the middle light and mounted a separate red led on top of the shroud.l to stay legal.

Hubby removed the center light, drilled hole for camera below, then fished wire thru with a piece of wire. Works perfect, looks nice. No need to go inside. Goood luck.

Most people prefer to run the wire inside for aesthetics, but I did exactly what you describe on our last trailer. The one additional concern is to make sure there is a drip loop between the camera and the hole where the wire enters the sidewall. The lowest point of the wire needs to be lower than both the camera and the sidewall entry. This ensures that any rain on the wire does not collect at the camera or the sidewall hole.
