Generator

Does anyone know anything about this generator
DS4400E* The DuroStar
It has the RV switch on it and it seems sturdy enough. I will be running my 15000 BTU AC and Refer, and 2 TV's
Thanks

DuroStar

OK, here is my opinion/observations with all generators in that category. They are a handy, useful generator for many needs. However, perhaps not for RV'ing.
Here is why:
The db (noise) rating on most of that style genny is anywhere from mid 60's to high 70's. See chart for comparison.

The honda and similar quite run gennys are in the 50's depending on load.

If you want a lot of irritated people in the RV park, fire up one of the non-quiet run generators.

Also, make sure the generator you pick has "clean" power output. Most of the less expensive, some call construction style generators is the power the produce is not good for any electronics. That would include the AC, Microwave, TV, Radio, and even the fridge depending on if it has a circuit board.
Hondas and Others have line conditioners to clean up the power, remove the fluctuations and provide safer conditions.

So in summary. If you want to have power to charge a battery or use in an emergency only, in an isolated area. That generator would be fine. Otherwise I would look for a quiet run generator.

It should run everything in your RV with no problems, but you probably won't be making many friends at the campground.

It is the open frame construction normally used in a construction site generator which has no sound baffles. It is rated at 69 dB noise level which they say "is equivalent to something a bit louder than ordinary conversation".

If you boondock by yourself, no problems, if it's too loud you can turn it off. At a campground or community setting, a bit noisy for my tastes.

And it weighs around 125 pounds..

Get a couple cheap 2000 inverter generators and bridge them.

Champion makes a 4000W that costs $100 less than that one, weighs less than 100#, has a 30A RV outlet and is only 59db.

It is Model 46515. Sometimes you can find them at Sams Club and BJs. I was wrong about the noise level, it is 68db.

Champion makes 2000 watt inverters you can bridge with a kit. They are about $850 out the door on ebay for the generators and kit.

Recently bought a set of two refurbished Champion 2000 watt inverters including bridge kit and covers for $899 on E-Bay. They look brand new and work great.
