Help my crinking neck.. TV mounting woes.

Hey there

Wondering if anyone or there has dealt with this.

Our TV is mounted above the fireplace on a swivel section so it can either be in the bedroom or the living room.. seems to be a very popular setup. The problem is that it sits to far into the cabinet and the people sitting on the couch struggle to see the entire image. Turning the TV does little because it is the actual cabinet ( not the swivel part) that is the problem and turning it actually makes it worse.

I would mount it to one of those swing-arm locking RV TV mounts but the existing mounting mechanism has me vexed. It doesn't appear to be solid and instead mounts to two sides of the swivel (see photos).

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Excuse the messy camper.. we're camping in it this week. 20220406_215602.jpg20220404_160440.jpg20220404_160530.jpg

I would think you could find an articulated wall mount that you can attach to the metal plate that is there. Keep in mind that it will cause the TV to stand out an a few more inches from swiveling wall. You should also install a strap to keep the TV in place while the camper is in motion. I found the strap in this photo on Amazon. I believe it was for holding things on a motorcycle.

007; I had the same issue with the TV in my TT. I purchased a MORryde TV1-25H wall mount for mine. I bolted it to the existing bracket, works great. TV pulls out and swivels to where ever you need. I have the TV angled vertically, the top sticks out from the cabinet about 1 inch when latched in travel position at the top only which is not a problem.

Snagged one of these on Amazon, I'll give it a shot. Thank you!

The biggest pain in the butt was the mounting for the TV.. two of the mounting holes in the TV broke. I was able to remove the back plate and super glue them in place long enough to get the screws back in. My biggest fear now is that I'll open the camper sometime and the whole back side of the TV would have failed.

I'll probably end up putting some safety straps on there for travel just to be safe.

I also mounted an articulating swivel mount arm to the original plate like the one in yours. Had to drill 2 holes in the original plate to mount the new mount to. Its great being able point it towards the couch. This is the one I got from Best buy because it mounts to the plate vertically and the new mount wasn't longer then the original mount. I had same problem on sunset trail. Before i brought it home, had them put swivel bracket on. Works great for sofa viewing. Northgate RV, Alcoa TN. Great people.

It did take some finagling to get the bracket to work. I made a template of the holes in the old bracket, carefully measured and aligned to keep center when retracted in the same place and then marked the template for the new bracket to drill my holes in the old factory tv mount.

The mount I bought is very sturdy.. I'm sure it'll last long after the tv does.
