Is Curt E-100 bumper hitch receiver safe for 270BH

I'm hoping to get a bolt-on hitch receiver for our 270BH - something like this:
http://www.etrailer.com/tv-Demo-Curt...hes-E-100.aspx

I'm curious if anyone knows whether or not this is safe to use on the bumper. The current intent is to use it for a bike rack for the kids and our bikes.

Thanks,
Mike

The hitch would probably take it, but I don't know that the bumper would.

Thanks. That's my concern. I've seen them used on other brands, but I want to know if the sunset trail bumper will be able to handle it.

I'm sure some of the Sunset Trail owners will chime in here soon.

I put a hitch with the same rating (not a Curt) on the rear bumper of my SF270BH mainly for a bike rack. I haven't used it yet.

The weight of the spare tire pulled my bumper off. It had to be re-welded with gussets.

I have the same thing. I have not installed it on my Patriot yet. If the bumper on my old Monoco Starwood (otherwise know as the "Big Ole Rollin Turd",) could take it I'm sure my Crossroads Patriot could.
One key is not to overload it with bikes. I only had two bikes, which had aluminum alloy frames, so the bikes were not that heavy.

I had a 2 place bike rack on an older camper. it broke the welds on the bumper. the weight of the hitch, the weight of the bikes, and the amount of weight being bounced around so much on the road could always put a lot of strain on the bumpers.

Notice how mine is reinforced against the trailer frame with angle brackets, stops twisting of the bumper . i will add pic of my bounce stopping eyebolts and rachet straps.
