Leveling the trailer

I understand that the leveling point for the trailer is the freezer. I personally like the stove top because I like my eggs in the middle of the pan but the freezer is right next to it so OK.

But how can you use the freezer as the leveling point since the slides are supposed to be in before leveling the trailer? You can't get to the freezer with the slide in.

For those in a similar situation, what are you using as your "level point"?

I have always used the trailer frame. It doesn't have to be absolutely perfect for things to work.
If you like your eggs in the middle of the pan then level to the stove.

Which part of the trailer frame? Where do you put your level? Up on the tongue?

I miss spoke.
When we bought the trailer and brought it home, I backed in the shed (cement floor) Leveled the trailer side to side and front to back. Then put a set of these on.

The main thing that has to be level is the rv type fridge...
it's an absorption type and the coolant has to be able to flow freely or it won't cool...

Saying that though 3 to 6 degrees either way and it will be fine !

I rarely worry about getting the unit perfectly level. Until recently all of my leveling boards were 1-1/2" thick, so that was the size of my adjustment. Recently added a single 3/4" board for fine tuning. In fact, just this last trip I finally installed outside bubble levels and the trailer is 5 yrs old.

Anyway, pick whatever feature you want leveled and everything else will be within a few degrees. As Lloyd did, get it level with the slides open (since that definitely makes a difference) and then install outside bubble levels.

This is my first bumper pull trailer (others are 5th wheels) and this may be the difference in the leveling process.

In FW, it's always "level with the slides in".

I always like my cooktop level and, since the fridge in this unit is side-by-side with the cooktop and both are in the slide, I'll probably use that as my level point. Oh, and the slides will be out when leveling.

FYI, will add that the rule of thumb for slides and leveling h TT's, 5'ers, and even motorcoachs is that there is no rule of thumb

Download and read your owners manual on how YOUR mfg and model should be leveled.
In the units I've been in, some say slides out, some say in, some say at ride height, some say dump air and lower before leveling...

and as far as assuming if this is part is level, the other part will be ???
Not necessarily true in that the fridge may have been mounted 'leaning' a bit one way or the other
After all, assembly line workers paid by the piece do not always take exacting care about finishing a job correctly (but may be close enough) good luck !

If you really want the eggs to stay in the center of the frying pan level the trailer so the stove is level before installing the bubble levels.

Page 21 of the CR owner's manual says that, for TT, level left to right then front to rear using the trailer FLOOR.

I learn something new everyday. LOL

Where to put the "stick on" level indicators?

Here's a question for you -- where do you put the stick on level indicators?

I'm looking at a set that are about six inches long with two different indicators. I'm thinking one should go on the nose cap behind the propane tanks and one on the ODS door near the front cap and above the pass thru basement door.

Where are yours mounted?

Mount them where it is sensible for your unit, and handy for you to see them when raising the front jack.

Mine is street side front corners.

You guys have to relax and try to not make this to complicated.
Yes, they say this that and the other thing, and they state the fridge has to be level.
Remember, when you are running down the road, up and down the hills, around corners, getting fuel, stopping at rest areas, or spending the night at a Walmart, things are not level then either.

Always used a 2 ft level on rear bumper hitch or floor. The rig does not have to be perfectly level. Personally I think the stick on levels look tacky. To each their own

I have 3" stick on levels ,one just under the front awning arm and the other behind the propane tanks in the alcove there. both obscure and easily readible. start with the slide side a bit on the highh side so when the slide goes out ...it is perfect. easy

Yeppers, the manual knows !
(assuming the floor is level )

on previous fivers without auto leveling, I put one on the front at the proper level where I could see it in the mirror while pulling up to level side to side...
then one on the side next to the tongue jack switch so I could level front to back once unhooked..
