Smile New Member / Front cap led lights

Hello, I have just taken delivery of my very first trailer, a 2014 Sunset trail reserve 28bh. My family are all very exited for our first camping trip coming up in a couple of weeks. It's going to be a lot of fun figuring out all we need to know about camping with our new trailer.

I noticed the other day that the row of led's across the front cap are not all working, has anybody had any success replacing these led's? I was thinking I could just buy a new string of led's from eBay and install them myself.

Thanks

Mine don't work, either...I would swear they worked when we first saw the rig, but, not now...

Congrats on the first camper...I hope you and the family get many years of enjoyment out of it...Since it is a 2014, is it a left over or used...If it is a left over I would have the work done by dealer as the warranty is still good...The reason I say that is our first camper was a two year old left over and CR honored the two year warranty on ours...

Mine has a strip of nine LEDs. It took me a couple of weeks to find the switch and 48 hours to burn out six of the nine LEDs. Disappointed.

It sounds as if there is a bad batch of LED strips, which probably came from overseas. LED lights should not burn out or go bad this quickly. My strip has worked flawlessly thus far. If anybody does replace theirs, let us know how it goes and the work involved.

Thanks sleepyT, this is a used trailer we bought from a dealer, I never even thought to check if they worked before we bought it and to be honest I probably won't use them all that often but the fact that I know they don't work bugs me! I've seen them on eBay for under $10 so I might see if I can change them out!

Did you buy from Western Country RV?
I'll be headed to Alberta this summer.

No I didn't buy from Western rv although we were very close because they are such a large dealer with the sunset trail and the maple country. We found our used Sunset trail at country road rv. They also sell new and are actually a little cheaper than western rv

We have a dead one on ours and have asked the dealer to repair it when we go in next month.
Be interesting to see if they can.

Love to find out

We just purchased a 29SS and a bumper to hitch warranty. Hopefully will be covered.

My dealer ordered the strip I need for the awning. Not going to worry with the front strip. Its hazed over. Not sure the point of it since i have to turn it on from a switch in the basement.

I'm not sure of the point of them either but I'd quite like to get them all working. I've bought a new strip of led's from eBay, I'll try to install them when I get a few spare minutes. Thanks for your info

I've used mine once to guide one of my sons to my camper late at night.

On my model its in the drivers side in the front storage bin. Tucked up against the roof\floor above.

It's a pretty light, but doesn't really do anything. We used it to make sure people didn't hit the front cap of our FW.
