Well it took awhile but a replacement unit arrived recently.
I was told they would ship it but I would have to install it myself.
Fine....not a problem. After all I already have fixed ALL the problems associated with the unit to date.
I will post how easy the swap is and how well it works.
It is just too bad that it takes so much hounding to get the problem taken care of.
My advise is to stick to your guns and use this thread as an example of how some have gotten it taken care of.

best of luck to all.

Hi
I am new here. Just bought 2012 Sunset Trail St32FR last week. I read through the posts about the DVD issue and am not sure how to get sound out of the TV speaker when viewing DVD with TV facing the Bedroom. It came with the JENSEN 970 and Toshiba 32 inch TV. Can someone please explain what I have to do in order to get the sound to come out of the TV speakers when watching a DVD with my setup.
Thanks
Bruce

It absolutely baffles my wee little brain why you folks would want the DVD sound to come from the tiny little TV speakers anyway. It is designed to come from the Stereo unit as it sounds infinitely better. I'm planning on sending the TV sound through the Stereo unit as well. To each his or her own I guess. Just doesn't make sense to me.

It definitely sounds better through other speakers then the ones that are in the TV, but with the AWM965 and the way the cables are run, there is no way that any of us have found to be able to watch a DVD and turn the TV around to the bedroom and watch a movie and get sound out of the TV. I have the AWM970 on the way due to the superior customer service that I have received through Crossroads. If you are just going to watch TV, the sound works fine, but the DVD does not. Hopefully you are un-baffled now.

Hi
At this time all I want to do is get sound from the Jensen 970DVD player to come out of the Toshiba TV speaker in the bedroom. Their are no speakers in the bedroom at this time. Till I decide what type of speakers to put in the bedroom this is the best solution for me. All I would like to know is how to go about doing this with what I have.
Thanks
Bruce

I want the sound from DVD to come through the TV for two reasons.
1) I don't need the kids and to be kept up by the speakers in the ceiling blaring my movie.
and
2) Thats the way it should work. And as I was told it would work.

Ok, not the way it's supposed to work, for sure. But whatever...not trying to be a troll or anything. Was just curious and, as I said, baffled. What baffles me even more is why Crossraods didn't set it up for the TV sound to come through the ceiling speakers too.

We are baffled also as to why it is not set up to work that way and why that can't find someone to just sit around in those trailers each day and watch movies and figure out if it works or not before they ship the trailer. I had to pull the stereo and re-work the cables and add some cables to get the sound to go through the ceiling speakers, and now it looks like I will have to install an entirely new system when the 970 arrives. Crossroads needs a audio specialist to figure all this out before it leaves the plant.

Unless there is a wiring issue, it should already work. You may have to remove the stereo and see if it is hooked up properly. I would not be sure of that though unless I could see what you are trying to do and how it is wired.

I think the detail you aren't understanding is that there aren't any ceiling speakers on the bedroom side of the wall.

Momojito, I think wikdslo had the best recap of the wiring problems/solution (assuming that is also the issue with yours). If you haven't checked already, pull out the Jensen and confirm that the red/white RCA plugs are in the proper output port and are being routed to the Toshiba input port. I assume that you are getting video from the DVD player to the TV?

Thank baby Jesus someone finally pointed that out.

I had a HUGE write up on Pg. 4 detailing just about everything you need to know surrounding this issue.

And STILL you get people trying to figure it out, asking questions about it, and saying no one has answered their question.

It's already been answered! Read it!

Thanks wikdslo for your solution to the issue at hand but it does not completely solve the problem.
First off I am having issues with the volume on both my Toshiba TV sets. I had a tech. from Toshiba come to my home today and he admits their is an issue with the design of the TV sets and audio setup. The placement of the set over the fireplace ( The speakers are located on the bottom of the set and point downward which muffels the sound which is not helped when the AC is on) Their are no speakers in the master bed room.
This is a bad design by Crossroads. They should make an effort to satisfy their customers even if it means putting speakers into the master bedroom and providing us with Jensen 975 with HDMI connections at no cost to us.
They spend thousands of dollars on advertising their products and then produce a poor design in an audio system which potential new customers read about and get turned off on buying Crossroads product. Such a waste. Someone at Crossroads should wake up and correct this issue. We the consumer should not have to try to do what should have been done from the get go.
It is sad to see if this is a representation of what we are representing as "MADE IN AMERICA"

Hey momojito, here you go.

Ok, so for the speaker on the TV location, yes. This is the problem with sticking it in a small cabinet. The only thing I can suggest is make sure your TV is mounted higher up in the cabient which will allow the sound to escape better. There is a bit of a volume loss that will come with the cabinet mount, but shouldn't be THAT significant. Try this with an iphone. The speakers are at the bottom. Play some tunes and cup your hand in different ways and see how it reflects the volume level. Use that concept as best as you can to your mounting.

As for the audio cable connections, what you need to do is:
Make sure you have 2 sets of RCA cables.
You need 1 set (Red/White = Audio, Yellow = video).
If you get DVD audio/video from the Jensen 970 to the TV already, then you have that cable set and you are good.
The second you need is JUST the Red/White RCA's, but a set of cables with the Yellow RCA on it is fine as well, the yellow just won't be used.

1 set of cables, which if you do get DVD audio/video on the TV, should already be hooked up properly. If you are getting only video, and no audio, then they cables are likely reversed somewhere.

On the back of the TV, you need to have one set connected to the AUDIO/VIDEO INPUT (red/white/yello). This set will the connect to the LINE OUTPUT of your Jensen AWM970.
This will give audio and video out from the DVD to the TV, so you can watch a DVD and play the DVD audio through the TV speakers.

Here is a copy of the Manual, and the wiring can be seen on Page 4.
http://www.jensenrvdirect.com/downlo...ers_manual.pdf

The next set of cables needs to go between the AUDIO OUTPUT on the back of the TV to the AUX IN 1 or AUX IN 2 on the back of the Jensen 970.

The only difference between the 2 inputs is the AUX IN 1 has the ability to have video in, so a game console, or something of the sort could be hooked up. The AUX IN 2 has only Audio (red/white).

When you have those connections run properly, put in a DVD, play it. Put the TV to Video IN (not HDMI, not PC) and you will have your video/audio from the DVD player.
Sometimes, the Jensen will automatically kick on the Speakers A. Just press the A button and it will turn them off. The volume is now adjusted via the TV only.

When you want TV to play on the trailer speakers, have the TV input selected, watching whatever you are watching, and select the AUX IN (1 or 2) based on how you chose to connect the wires, and make sure Speaker A/B/C is lit up according to which speakers you want to have on at the time.

To get the Jensen out to connect the wires, there is cover plate that surrounds the outside edge that needs to come off. (Pg 3 of manual), then remove the 4 screws, and slide it out.

If you have any other questions, feel free to post up and I will do my best to respond. It's not an overly difficult task, and only requires a phillips screwdriver.

Hope this helps you.

Cheers.

Hi Wikdslo
I have to give you a lot of credit. You are the best. I will try the wiring you suggest and see how that works out.
The point being. Crossroads should have worked this out not the customer who spent good money on a New Travel Trailer.
This is only part of the small problems that I have found. I am taking care of most of them myself. It is just poor quality control on their part but then again my understanding is that this is an industry wide problem. In general I like my ST32FR. That is the reason I bought it. I have it 2 1/2 weeks now. I am not sorry I bought it.
I just feel if you don't talk up the minor problems will become major issues. Crossroads image would be even better if they would address these issues and improve on their quality control.
example: Read my thread on Dometic AC issue
Thanks for your help
Bruce

Hey Bruce. No problem. I'm glad I could help out. I will say you should at least be thankful your trailer came with the 970 model. For those of us that got the 965, there is NO way for that unit to play audio on the TV for the DVD player.

I had to fight back and forth a bit with the Crossroads rep to get the replacement unit.

To me it seemed like they just purchased the wrong units, but wired them up in such a way as though they SHOULD have been playing DVD audio to the TV. In any case, my issue is resolved and I know a few others have gotten theirs.

For those fighting the fight, I will say that swapping out the unit yourself is VERY easy.
I think I was about 3 double Weisers and Ginger deep when I started, and 10 minutes later it was all good to go.

There are just wire taps that can be pried open, dilligently with a small screw driver and the new wiring harness inserted 1 by 1. If you do it 1 by 1 you can't screw up the wiring. It's all color coded.

I can offer up some help on that if anyone needs.

No way I was taking the trailer in to the dealer for a 10 minute Sunday afternoon job.
Again, good luck, and let me know if you need any more help.

HELP
The story gets better. I am trying to do what you have suggested but my set above the Fireplace has no output jacks on the back. My TV in the back bedroom has the output jacks. I am one unhappy camper. Big Time. They are supposed to be the same TV 32" Toshiba
I called Crossroads. They want me to send pictures. That is what I am doing now.

If there is no output jack, there is not much that can be done. What model is it?
