Picked up our 2021 sunset trail 212RB 2 weeks ago. Have had it on a 600 mile weekend shake down run and now currently on a 7 day trip. My initial impressions of this unit are very favorable. It holds temps very well and seems super reliable (so far!)
The only down side is it’s a power hog. It draws 5.7 amps in normal mode but can be put into nite mode where it will drop down to 3.9 Amps for 8 hrs or until reset to normal mode. On a single 12 volt battery in normal mode you might get a day out of it. I upgraded to (2) 6 volt, 225 aH AGM batteries and I can go a full weekend on a charge if I use nite mode in the evenings.
Nite mode works by having the compressor on a variable speed motor. It comes on less frequently and at a slower speed since it assumes you won’t be opening it at nite. We even use it during the day when we know we’ll be gone all day sight seeing.
I’ll admit I was skeptical of this unit at first but I’m a believer now!
Sounds fancy! Don’t know anything about the day/night mode things. Glad you like it. Safe travels!!!
