Oven Won't Stay On

Hi, brand new to RVing. Have a new 300BH. Have only tried using the oven once and it would not stay lit. Initially the pilot light lights and you can fire up the oven, but about ten minutes later I look and the pilot light and burner is out. Not sure if I have a gas supply issue or a pilot light issue. By the way, the top burners work fine.

Try blowing the pilot light out with air. I've never had any trouble with my oven in the camper, but the gas logs in my fireplace at home have to have the pilot orifice blown out occasionally or the flame gets too weak to keep the thermocouple made up and it shuts the gas off.

The propane cylinder may not have been purged of air properly. Try using another cylinder.

New cylinders often don't work right until the third fill. Kids these days don't know how to properly purge the air out of the empty cylinders.

If this is the problem, why does his top burners still work???

Could be the oven jet problem. and I think there is a thermocouple in there that has to be set just right into the flame.

Also, the LP regulator could not be providing enough pressure for an oven. but since your Rv is new I'm not sure that is your problem.

Burners are more forgiving of a little air than a pilot.

Might be the thermocoupler itself. I agree swap the tank and try it again.

I've been having this problem too and it is a real PIA having to monitor your oven to make sure it is still on. I asked the dealer, and he said they couldn't replicate, but it happens every time I try to use it!

Make sure the pilot flame is touching the thermocouple . may need to bend a bracket to make it contact better.

I'm not sure about this but I think if it was the thermocouple I don't think the pilot would go out, just the burner would.

In order for the pilot to stay lit it must keep the thermocouple hot enough to prevent it from shutting off the gas valve. It's the safety so that your propane doesn't keep flowing if the pilot goes out. Thermocouple is only affected by the pilot and not the burner.

I think it would shut off all of the gas going to the oven, including the pilot. If it thinks the pilot is out, it doesn't want to allow gas to continue to flow to the pilot orifice.

Statement on pilot is correct - if you have no pilot light, oven gas flow shuts off. The thermocouple is for the PILOT. This is why you must hold down knob for a minute when lighting the pilot (thermocouple must warm up or gas flow stops). If thermocouple is bad, pilot will keep going out.

I have this problem, as I posted earlier in this thread. Dealer now Says it is thermostat problem, they have other cases. And that there is confusion over which of 3 choices is the correct replacement! At least they are now trying to fix it!

My oven was always a bear to light. After a upgraded the propane regulator on the tanks, it lights really easy now.

Low propane level will cause that, try the other tank or temporarily use a different tank.
