power cord

Have a 262 sunset, the shore power recepticle is mounted behind the spare tire. It is difficult but not impossible to attach cord, the difficulty is trying to use retaining collar to secure the plug, cross threading the ring is almost a given,
A twist lock receptacle would be nice
Anyone else have s solution

On our 2013 Crossroads Rushmore. We full time since new. After 2 1/2 years the wiring inside behind the wall plug melted down. RV tech said it wasn't wired from the factory correctly. You might look there.

What year is your camper?
It would help if you would put the make, model, and year in your signature.

You say the plug is on the rear but is it in the middle or on which side? The ladder is on one side can you move the spare to the other side? Not knowing your camper a tilting spare mount might be the way to go.

You could get the under carriage spare tire mount made by BAL and store your spare tire under your trailer. I put one on our trailer and really like it. It is a nice setup.

Just Googgled your camper and it looks like the power cord goes on the left by the bumper. A picture of your camper would help if you can. In the picture I looked at the spare was in the middle under the ladder by the water heater. look like good access to the cord. 2019 Sunset Trail 262BH.

Move the spare

Ditto on moving the spare underneath using the BAL Hide-a-spare.

What you have described can lead to damaged power cord or damaged internal connection due to strain put on both.

Tjwoody, just saw this was your first post and you’ve been a member since 2014?! That’s impressive. Must have caught your interest. Lol. Keep it up!
