I have found a solution for the bed not staying in the upright position, and the cost is below $20. Website: http://www.thehardwarehut.com/catalo...p?p_ref=302864

Queen Bed Strut??

I have had the trailer for a few months now and it just dawned on me that there is no strut to hold the queen bed in the up position. Did Crossroads remove this from the 2016 line or did they just forget to install it in mine?

I don't know cus we have a '16 also. Its a two person job to get anything under the bed. DH is going to fashion a stick to hold it up for me.

We have 2013 CR ST 32RL 5W and it has two struts under the queen bed to hold up the bed while accessing the storage box under the bed. I can't imagine lifting the bed platform without the struts. Struts are reasonable inexpensive item. I'd have a hard time figuring that this was a cost saving move by the factory. Sounds more like a safety concern if the platform drops and causes an injury without the struts being there.

Agree with Donjamin. My Hill Country came with one 80 pound struts and I replaced it with a 120 because the 80 just didn't hold the bed upright.

Struts are cheap (Wally World, any auto parts store) and there are universal mounting kits with wood screws for only a few bucks next two the struts display.

This is a pretty simple and inexpensive fix to the storage issue under the bed.

Like TX just said,I had an 80 lb strut on my bed and got an email from CR,which I was already in contact with for other problems, and he asked me what size was on the bed. He sent me 2 60 lb'ers and I put the 2 on and worked great. The orig 80 would not keep the bed up with blankets and sheets on it. Lifted it ok when bed was not made.

Mark, are you using that in place of a strut or in tandem with one? I need the gas assist so my wife can lift the platform up. It is a relatively easy fix for me to add struts, I am just trying to figure out if the factory straight up forgot to install them.
