Has anyone with st270bh used their outside shower? it is mounted directly above main power cord carring 30 amps. The shower leaks all over the plug...nota good feeling if your standing in the water.

I believe I would be moving the power plug. Or at least waterproofing it somehow. Somebody had their head in the wrong spot when that was laid out.

The ST290QB has the same issue. Really dumb pace for it. I've used my outside shower with no issues, I just make sure to drain out any water remaining in the hose before placing it in the holder. You can angle it away from the outlet as well to keep the spray from dripping on the outlet. But again it's in a really dumb location.

Good point I guess a really good rain could be as bad as having a constant flow over the outlet. Still think it was dumb spot tho

We have a ST28BH, which I'm guessing is a similar model. Same exact placement with the shower. Any 1st grader can tell you not to put water and electric together. The other weird thing is that the water hook-up is all the way in the front of the trailer. We mostly camp at State Parks. The water and electric hook-ups at the park are always together. But now we're finding a need for a looooonger hose! Not a biggie...just weird.

Smile electric plug below shower

Finally after months of going back and forth with customer service they are moving plug to other side of bathroom stairs.

What do you mean? For future models or as a fix for current?

Thanks

Got that right!

I thought the same thing about our Zinger's freshwater connection...dumb placement. The hose drops down directly over the water heater door. Fortunately, the filter and 90-degree fitting keep the hose away from exhaust. You also cannot access water heater very well if hose is hooked up.

I am not sure how a lot of these RV manufacturers are set up there needs to be more quality/Safety inspections on campers. Alot of what I have seen wrong are simple fixes moving a connector or hose connection just a few inches.

That's the point I was trying to make when I posted this on another thread:

My biggest concern with RVs is that you never know what the manufacturer puts into them. I hope they wire the circuits with wire that is of sufficient gauge to take the current. I'm sure the industry has some standards they should follow, but the RVIA is only an association. When a house is built, the builder must follow the building code, which states what gauge of wire and circuit breaker must be used in electrical circuits. Before the house can receive a certificate of occupancy it must be inspected by a qualified inspector for each type of system (electrical, plumbing, etc.). It's too bad the RV industry isn't policed in the same manner.

Be careful what you wish for... Additional building codes and regulations will, inevitably, result in more costs for the manufacturers and you know who will be paying those costs in the end... Look at what "Safety" and the EPA have done to the cost of cars and TVs.

Kudos to the OP and respondents for recognizing the potential for a bad situation regarding the orientation of the shower and power inlet.

Manufacturers paying attention to consumer feedback as is found in forums such as this would seem to be a much more economical solution.
