Sunset Trail Reserve Leather deteriorating

Hi All

I have a 2013 32BH Reserve.

All of our leather is deteriorating and looks horrible. Has anyone else experienced this with their furniture? The leather looks like it is literally shrinking away from the backing.

I am so disappointed in the quality of Crossroads, this newest issue just adds to the lovely faded front cap among other items.

It is not leather , it is a bonded type or some synthetic mat'l that looks nice at first. Same mat'l that is on the couches you see people throwing out on garbage day...

My couch is also peeling an cracking. 2013re. Took the seat cushion to a local upholsterer to redo. Next is the back cushions. Stuff looks like junk from the original manufacturer. I know Crossroads did not manufacture the funiture. I see the two post above are from people who own 2013's. I wonder if other years had probems.

Furniture peeling

We have a 2014 27BH that we purchased in 12/13. The "leather like"material on the couch and dinette started to deteriorate before it was 2 years old. We have no kids or pets. Also wondering if this was jus an issue with those manufactued in 2013. Has anyone had this issue resolved from the manufacturer?

It wouldn't make any difference what brand of rv you bought, they most likely get the same cheap a## furniture from the same place, Thor/Crossroads DOESN'T build the furniture.

You're correct, a lot of the Rv furniture is made by Lippert and Flexsteel

Fingers crossed, the brown "leather" in my 2013 seems to be holding up. Not sure if it's a factor, but we typically keep the shades down behind the couch when not in use. I know sunlight can be a fabric's worst enemy. We also leave the vents open all winter for air flow (have the Maxx Flo covers) and this may help as well. Could of course be all for nothing if things start to peel soon.

I think it must have been an issue. I have a 2016 and they made a big deal about the furniture being better quality. I think they said it's made by Black Diamond? Supposed to be a Lazy Boy knock off. I can tell you it is uncomfortable. They build these things like petite athletic people live in them. They are confused, those people carry tents into the woods and sleep on the ground.

I treat ours with conditioner a few times a year. Hopefully it will keep it soft and plyable for a longer life.

All my furniture is peeling as well. I have a 2014 ST32BH that I purchased in October of 2013. We're on a trip now and have everything covered and have to sweep up the flakes every day.

Update

I've been going back and forth with Lippert about my couches and dinette. They said that they are aware of the problem. It is mostly found in the south like Florida possibly because of the heat and humidity. They extended the warranty for 2 years but did not tell anyone. If you were lucky to notice in time and complain they would fix it. I did not notice in time so I'm SOL. I can purchase all new furniture at a discount. So I need to replace all my furniture in an RV that is less than 4 years old BS. My wife says Canada has a class action lawsuit going on this.

If you have to replace, I would look a Lazy Boy or other brands.

I think that what we are going to do. Unfortunately it's 2 sofas and then getting someone to reupholster the dinette.

This outfit seems to have some pretty decent stuff for RV's.

Lloyd, they might be good but I have one problem with their design. The reclining mechanism does not have a lever. In order to get back down, you must force the leg support down and back with your legs. Susan cannot do it and it's even a little bit of a struggle for me.

I found this company makes a good line of rv furniture. They do have some showrooms across the states. But you can also order online. Travel Trailer Chairs | Trailer Chair | Flexsteel
