Sunset Trail roof issue

Our 2012 Sunset Trail had a really bad roof issue, and required the replacement of the entire roof. The plywood totally rotted out around the skylight in the bathroom, roof hatches, and the front shell connection. The best price i got was $ 7,800 from Camping World. Lazy Days, where we bought the trailer from originally was over $10K. They had to replace all of the plywood, some of the roof joists, new membrane outer and total reseal. The job took almost a whole week.

The Camping World people stated that the damage was so severe that the roof must have been leaking since I bought the trailer. They have me returning the trailer for a roof inspection every quarter now for the first year, and then every 6 months for the next several years.

Hate to hear that about the roof. It was not 3 months after we had our camper that I went around every single roof opening, the front cap, and rear cap with Eternabond Tape. Never had a leak before the tape and don't think I ever will after it. The way I look at it for $60 and a couple hours of my time I think it's well worth it! An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, or in this case thousands of dollars in repairs. You may look into taping up the new roof just in case.
