Water heater breaker

I turned off my water heater breaker. Turned on the switch on panel for a second and and the lighted switch turned on. So my ? Is I'm hoping the heater element wouldn't energize but the lighted switch does light anyway ?? Hope that makes sense. Thanks

The switch will light up if it has power, it indicates it's in the "on" position, you need to disconnect 12 volt power also. Most water heaters have a switch at/on the front of the heater, be sure to turn it off also.

The switch light will turn on if there is 12v power going to the switch not the hot water heater. So no power the hot water heater just the switch. So you will be ok.
