Water management

Hi All,

I’m looking for some ideas from folks about water management when there isn’t a water hook-up.

My freshwater tank inlet is inset inside the front storage area door. That said, there isn’t a direct access to easily fill the fresh water tank from the outside.

Does anyone have good solutions/ideas for:
- favorite containers to haul water to the TT (space efficient)
- good funnel (or similar) to fill the tank

Thanks everyone!

Besides a regular funnel, this is about the cheapest water tank filler adaptor.

We use these to carry fresh water when we are dry camping.

Also have this to transfer water into the fresh water tank.

If you can't direct fill your tank, you might have to consider a little pump to move the water.

That’s the best funnel I’ve seen. Looks like it will be relatively fast filling.

I like the idea of 5 gallon containers for ease of use. I think I may get these collapsible ones.

That's almost 350lbs. of weight on your vehicle if you transport it that way. Plus an additional weight to your whole towing package.

I mounted a standard RV water pump in a Sterilite box, with enough room for the hose going from the pump to the water inlet on the trailer. I use the other hose when I fill containers from the campground pump, then attach it to the pump and drop the end in the water jug. Hit the switch and away it goes. I also mounted a 12v outlet on the battery box. I have lifting limitations, so this makes it simple. I also use a folding hand truck to bring the container from the pump to the trailer.

Sounds like you figured out a pretty nice setup that works for you.

We just got back from a 4-day trip with two grandsons, so my water pump setup got a good workout -- the 11-year-old does pretty well with water management, but it's hard to impress the idea on a 5-year-old

The 11-year-old made all the trips to the hydrant to fill the water jug. Great kid!

Anyway, here are two pics of my setup. When not in use it lives on a shelf in the cap on my truck. I couldn't find a spot to keep it in the camper, and our storage bay isn't great.
