a positive outcome

I wanted to take a minute and share a bit about my most recent issue with my 5er. in 2017 the wife and i purchased our first 5th wheel. Not new to camping but we were new 5er owners. Yes we have made our share of mistakes. My very first mistake and one that I am continuing to learn from was not educating myself enough to perform a thorough inspection when we picked up the trailer. lesson learned and I am building a list for the next time.

To be fair we have had pretty good luck so far with the volante 240rl. But after 3 years of ownership I notice a strange wear pattern on the driver side front tire. after a lot of scratching my head and looking, i could see that it looked like the axles were a bit off. spacing between front and rear tires was different from right to left. about 2.5 inches different. laying a straight edge on the outside edge of the tires showed the misalignment. Additional measurements also showed the distance between the bolts for the leaf springs was different between the center and front hagers by 2.5 inches.

I contacted the dealership where we purchased the trailer and received the same less than stellar response from the service department. They told me to contact keystone and try to get it warrantied before brining it in, they were not very interested in helping me unless i had a ruling from keystone. long story short i found another dealership that is an authorized keystone services center, i spoke to their service manager and got a much different response. he said bring it in we will look at it and file the warranty request with keystone.

The trailer is out of warranty and i truly expected a negative response from keystone. I did get a quote from the dealership in case i had to pay full price. The quote was $750 for the repair. Couple of weeks later and i have the trailer back home. they completed the repair and got keystone to pay $337 i paid $405 for a total of $742 need less to say the original dealership has been nothing but trouble since the sale and i now have a new service center.

Boy, that is a positive outcome. It's nice to hear things like that. To bad we can't hear them more often.
Thanks for sharing.

I think you have found one of the handful of RV dealers willing to help the customer.
