Thanks for everyones thoughts and prayers. We truly appreciate it. After the angiogram this afternoon we do know there are blockages. The big problem is the heart is too weak right now. It is only working at about 20%. They are giving dad medication to help strengthen the heart and also to slow the pulse down. They will do another echocardiogram on Monday to see ifthe heart is any stronger. Once the heart is stronger they will look at stents for the blockages. His heart is very weak right now but the good news he has not had a heart attack so the heart muscle is not damaged, just very weak. This is not the first time he has "been on the ropes". He had a brain aneurysm about 24 years ago and by all rights should not have survived. But he did and prayer and the hand of God are the reason. Please keep him in your prayers. I will post more as I know more. Thanks so much,
Lonnie

I just wanted to post a quick update. On Friday they did an angiogram and determined that because of the afibralation his heart was too weak to do anything for the blockages at that time. His heart was only working at 15-20% at thatpoint. The cardiologist told us he did not know how my father was able to walk from the car to the hospital door. (I should also mention dad drove himself from the drs office to the emergency room.) They put him on meds to control the afibralation and also to strengthen the contraction of the heart muscle. Each day after thatwe could see him getting stronger. Monday morning his heart rate was down to 70bpm, it had been 150-170 on Friday. They did another EKG on Monday and it was now "normal" withno afibralation. They will go in today and place 2 stents in the blocked arteries and according to the dr if all goes well dad should go home tomorrow. Please continue to keep my father in your prayers as his recovery will take some time and he will need strength to make some "lifestyle" changes. I would like to thank everyone once again for their prayers and thoughts. I truly appreciate it.
Lonnie

Good news indeed!
I'm guessing that the "lifestyle" changes include a diet of cardboard like stuff and no more bacon sandwiches...

I did not know you knew my father!
Seriously, they placed 2 stents yesterday and dad was doing well. The cardiologist was pleased with the results. They did have some difficulty with the 2nd stent and it was a good thing they did not try to do the stents when they did the initial angio on Friday because his heart was simply too weak. I want to thank everyone again for their prayers and thoughts. Now we just need to get dad stronger so he can go camping again.
Lonnie

Lonnie - I just read about your DAD - hope he recovers well.
I've been fighting a serious leg infection for over a year now - slowly getting better.
I know all about hospitals from my 65+ days in last year and missing 128 days of work.
Hope he recovers well and his finances hold out.
We will add him to our Prayer List.

Hi Lonnie,
A prayer note was put in the West wall (what is called the Wailing Wall) in Jerusalem.

It is a tradition to insert prayers in between the stones of the Wall,so we added ours for your father's health last weekend while visiting the place.
All the best.
