Blackstone griddle surface smoothness question

Question at hand is; anyone who purchased a Blackstone, did you take sandpaper or emery-cloth on a block sander to the cold roll plat steel cooking top before you started to seasoned it? I ordered a Blackstone griddle and a hard hood, but won't receive it for another 4-5 days, and am curious as to the smoothness of the cooking surface and if some of you folks found it necessary to take a block sander to work the surface first. I've done this a year or 2 ago to our cast iron frying pans and a griddle for the Weber Bar-B and it made for great result. Anybody !!!!

Ours came with a cold-rolled steel griddle on it, it is quite smooth. I just cleaned it good and seasoned with Flax oil. We really like ours.

Well my first top warped badly. Actually it crowned so bad that eggs were impossible. If you tried to put in in the middle they all ended up at edge. Every single time. And yes it was level.

Distributor here in canada was by far the best one to deal with. And his prices beat everyone else.

After he replaced the top, I bought the bag and lid. Prices were 1/4 what others were asking.

Here is the info:

Delbert G. Beazer, Chief Executive Officer
Chief Mountain Gas Co-op Ltd.

P.O. Box 38
Cardston, Alberta, T0K 0K0
403 653-3011
1 866 653-3011

btw, I paid $90.72 for hood and carry bag for the 22 inch model.

Blackstone Grill

I purchased the 22 inch and all I do is once a month, get those sponge/soft green scrubber pads, clean it really good, heat it up and coat it with olive oil. Once cooled off, wipe it down and store it. When using it, while still hot, small amounts of water and scrape the surface to clean "stickies" off of the griddle. Once done, wipe really good, and when cool, again olive oil. I love it so much, bought a 37 inch one for home. Makes it easy to cook and clean on the road. Also, got the kit to hook it to the propane quick connect on the back of my Crossroads 33SI
