Thanks, I will pass this info on to my husband as he is in charge of those things.

I told my husband about this comment and he agreed that maybe we should have the bearings re-packed before continuing. So he called a mobile RV service here in Nashville (where we are right now) and had the guy come over and do the two wheels on the passenger side that the mechanic just squirted grease into.

Thanks for the info.

We will be on the road again Sunday to Kentucky, then Ohio, then Rochester, then home.

That is wise enjoy Nashville and safe travels back north. Spring is just beginning to awaken.

Keep an eye on the sky. We're supposed to have some nasty weather in Middle Tennessee today. Hope you have a good remainder of your trip!

Thanks, guys! We are keeping an eye on the sky - lots of active, lively weather in this part of the country! We head to Kentucky on Sunday to see Mammoth Cave.

Mammoth Cave is fun. Not the most impressive as far as formations but huge and goes on forever. Not sure what route you will be taking on to Ohio, but you owe it to yourself to check out Cumberland Falls. Seems like it was a couple hours from the cave.

We are heading straight north out of Nashville. We are spending only one night there, at the KOA, so the only time we get to see the cave is the day we arrive. The next day we have a long drive to Logan, OH so we need to get an early start. So many things to see, so little time!

Use those grease zerks to lube the bearings about once a year. Repack every 10,000 miles. This is part of our dewinterizing process. Even though our fiver is less than a year old because it has been driven from NC to IN and back twice, we are going to have the bearings repacked while it is in the shop again in a couple of weeks.

On another wheel maintenance note. You should stop and tighten your lug nuts after the first 150 miles or so when a wheel was removed and put back on. You should also check them before a trip just like you check tire pressures. The lug nuts can loosen up. Hope you have smooth sailing and sunny skies the rest of your trip.

Thanks. We know about the lug nut tightening. My husband carries a torque wrench with him all the time.
