I have been a Budweiser consumer for a long time. But, when InBev, a Belgium company bought out Bud, I am looking for a replacement. I refuse to drink a beer that laid offmost of its American workers, so it can be produced cheaper in Belgium/Brazil. I tried Samuel Adams beer, YUK, I don't know what pee tastes like, but is has to be close. Anything comparable to Bud?

I did not know Coors is not American owned any more?Edited by: markbet

Because this would be a long story, I won't go into detail. But what I will say, I did something very foolish, when I was very young, and just the smell of bourbon will make me very ill. That is whythis SOB isa beer drinker.

Well I hear Poland Springs is always looking for more water drinker's.......

If you like the birch-wood aged flavor of a Bud then might I suggest a Pilsner? oramber ale?In most parts of the country there areregional micro-breweries that make amber/light colored ale's that will suit your taste. Visit the local watering hole/tavern that carries more then just the typical bottled beer to explore some flavor's.

One of my favorite places in my area is called Federal Jack's. At any one time they have dozen's of regional brews, all American made - to fancy your tastes.

I just learned this.

On October 9, 2007, SABMiller and Molson Coors Brewing Company announced a joint venture to be known as MillerCoors for their US operations that will market all of their product.

http://millercoors.com/our-beers/great-beer.aspx

I don't think there are any American beers left, that taste good anyway.

I gotta agree with Michael. Try a good amber or pale ale. Sam Adams is pretty stout and pretty bitter. See if you can find some Pete Wicked Ale. It's brewed in good ol' San Antonio, TX USA. Good stuff I know I've been doing my part to keep local American breweries in business.

The best American beers are the microbrews. Unfortunately, your favorite microbrew may not be stocked on the shelves of all stores you come across if you travel far from you your home.

My favorite microbrews are 1st Amendment and Polygamy Porter, both are made by Wasatch Brewery in Utah. I also enjoy Provo Girl Pilsner and Chasing Tail Golden Ail by Squatters Brewery, also in Utah.

Microbrews are quickly becoming the last resort for American brewed beer.

The other option is to buy the equipment to brew your own. I have brewed about 10 batches myself, but it's a lot of work and I'm too lazy. I would rather buy it and go camping than sit at home and brew beer.

Welcome to the forum caimakale.

I'm in the camp that doesn't believe there is a good "American" beer that came from the likes of Miller, Budweiser, Coors & etc. Â*The only truly "good" American beers are the micro brews. Â*You might consider expanding your territory from America to North America. Â*Then you can look at the Canadian brewers like Molson or LaBlatts.

Or quit drinking all togetherÂ*

Mark- good for you! I wonder what they will replace the Clydesdales with? Do they have Llamas in Brazil??? Anyway. I don't consume a lot of beer but I do like Sam Adams. But...I would have to agree that the best beers are microbrews. I live about 3 miles from a place called "Jungle Jims". It is a grocery store/produce market on steriods! (kinda like A-Rod). This place has been on featured on the Travel Channel. Anyway..they have a great beer and wine section. They have so many microbrews from all over the country. I started trying them. We go there about once a month so I will pick up a 6 pack each month of something new. It's going to take me years to try everything but I will persevere!

Marbet,

I drink Yuengling traditional lager, although the brewery also makes black & tan, porter, pale ale, etc.

Yuengling brewery, located in Pottsville, PA, is the oldest American brewery.

However, I do not know if the brewery ships to distributers in your area.

by the way, Yuengling is not comparable to budweiser.....it is far better.

[btw...yeunglingis said yingling]

beer is the reason I know God loves me and wants me to be happy.

Jack Daniels is ok, but, i prefer Canadian VO.Edited by: seabee

I am SOL on the Yuengling beer, they only distribute on the east coast. Oh well, I will start trying different micro breweries products out. I may have to go with the Canadian brand, Molson/Coors. Only bad thing about Coors, it has always acted like a cleansing agent on me, hershey squirts! So I guess it would be considered a health drink? I think the doctors should prescribe Coors prior to aÂ*colonoscopy</span>, be a lot better tasting than that gallon of crap they make you drink now.Â*

The fact that you consider Budweiser to be good beer is slightly disturbing. I would also look for a local microbrew.I like Magic Hat which is in VT. It's my hope to take the camper up to New England and visit a few breweries over the summer. Went to RedHook in NH last summer. YingLing is good, too. I am in CT and they don't even distribute it here. Have to go to NY to get it.

Hey Mark,

I keep Miller Lite on tap at my basement bar. But I also keep this http://www.leinie.com/home.htmlin the fridge. My favorite is the Honey Weiss. Pour into a frozen mug with a slice of lemon, it's pretty good stuff. It's all I drink when fishing in Wisconsin. Most of their flavors are available in Indiana so there's a chance they are available in your area. Give it try, maybe one of them will take over for Bud.

In response to caimakale's post, I agree with all the Utah microbeers mentioned. I've tried them all and like them all. In addition, when in Utah, I'll suggest samplying Cutthroat by Uinta brewing, and when in Colorado, Avalanche by Breckenridge Brewery.Less hoppy than Fat Tire, but with a good nose and mild aftertaste. Very refreshing.
