Inflatable boats

Looking to purchase the Sea Eagle Fish Skiff 16 and also the Honda 5HP outboard separate. The FKS 16 has a 1765 Lb weight capacity. Don’t know much about them except the reviews and YouTube videos. They have been in business since 1968 and are out of Long Island NY. It’s a big investment at around $4000 for everything. Would be using it in the sound for fishing. Pulling a fifth wheel limits the carrying of kayaks easily. Woundering if anyone has owned one or have any personal reviews.

Years ago I looked long and hard at the Sea Eagle boats. Almost bought one. I wanted the smaller one. Had visions of fishing some of the mountain lakes in WY. and MT.
Do they still come with patches and repair kit for patching a hole on the spot?

They do come with a repair kit and a manual pump. I’m also getting a six year warranty and an electric two stage pump that inflates it and stops when it reaches 15 PSI. They also have a 180 day money back return if not satisfied. That’s a big deal to me. I mean who else gives you six months with money back guarantee. And a weight limit of 1745 Lbs and can use up to a 10 HP engine. I plan to purchase a Mercury 6hp.

So after lots of research I decided to purchase the Mercury 6hp four stroke engine. Crossing fingers and looking forward to hitting the sound in April. Of course I have to get the FKS 16 and motor in;(fks back ordered until January 5 and Mercury set for delivery at West Marine around December 14) set up and breaking in the engine hopefully on a warmer day over the winter. I’ll keep everyone informed.

Ted, I'm sure you know what that 4 stroker weighs, don't you?
My Brother had one a few years back, and it was heavy.

Yes it’s 57 Lbs. The fks 16 can take an engine up to 10 hp (100 lbs. max weight, 15"short shaft) . Wanted to keep the weight to a manageable level.

Got my Mercury 6 hp 4-stroke in the local West Marine store. Picked it up and got it up and started today. Checked it out running with the lower unit in a rubber trash can of water. All was smooth and quiet. Boat is still set for shipping on 1-5-22.

Ted, get yourself a set of "water muffs" Then you won't have to use a barrel when you want to run the motor when you are at home.

Water muffs don’t work on a new 6hp Mercury. The water intake is up underneath the plate; just above the prop. It’s designed to run in shallow water.

I have a set of water muffs, and it sure looks like they would work on that Merc.
From what I see in the pic the intake/suction holes is right behind the prop, under the plate. I've used mine on many motors.

Yea it’s under the plate above the prop on the bottom of the plate underneath. Is this what your talking about. I think it would not allow you to put it in gear. The motor has a separate flushing port under the back of the engine to flush out everything. But I was just running it to make sure all was working.

I also found this one which I’m going to order. I didn’t know they made them. This one should not interfere with the prop. Thanks Lloyd for the idea.

So, finally got my Sea Eagle fks16 in. Warmed up into the upper 40’s so got it unpacked and inflated. Three separate chambers; floor, and two sides. I’m glad I purchased the two stage pump. (Set the desired pressure and push on; automatic shuts off). Don’t think using the manual pump would’ve been much fun, lol. This thing is rock solid. Left inflated over night. Temperatures were going to be dropping back down so deflated and stored inside the 5er. Can’t wait until warmer weather to try her out.
