Laptop running hot

My HP Pavillion g7 is running the fan all the time again. About 1.5 years ago, I carefully took it all apart and was able to blow out the fan with canned air. Now I cannot seem to repeat that process. Some of the parts just don't come apart.

I know we have lots of pet hair and dust so I'm sure its accumulated again. I've heard that HP's have this issue and I sure don't want this good laptop fry itself. Thoughts? Thanks.

I had an Toshiba that did that. I now have a Dell. I always make sure my laptop has "feet". I buy something to stick to the bottom which raises the bottom of the laptop so it is not sitting flat on the table. This allows air to circulate under it.

Best to take it to a professional, laptops will come apart, but they're tough to put back together correctly if you don't know what you're doing.
Be careful blowing canned air on the fan. You can damage the bearings inside if it spins too fast, best practice to keep the fan from spinning with a small screw driver.

I have a "lap top shelf" for lack of a better word that I use. It has two fans in it that run off the USB of the computer. I actually never use that connection. I usually have it in my lap and it provides enough ventilation without the additional fans.

I work in IT and one you blow out the fans, next go online and update the firmware, particularly the BIOS. Usually fixes the issues we have with over heating.

There is an option on the Hp laptops that make the fan run often. It's Hp Coolsense. I wonder if you accidentally turned it on. This will cool the computer and if it's an option, I'm sure running it will not damage your computer.
