NC Snow

Papa-T
Ted, have you got your snow shovel limbered up?
Is that big blast of snow going to hit you? Sounds like it could be from 15 to 20 in. in the mountains there.

Yep calling for anywhere from 12-15+. I have the shovel out, generator ready to go, plow on the atv, tub full of water to flush toilets (In case power goes out), food in the fridge and propane tank filled for the gas logs. Retired; and my part time bailiff job will be canceled on Tuesday. So let it snow, let it snow.

That much snow is pretty unusual for you isn't it?

What elevation are you there?

Well it’s been a few years since we’ve had an accumulation like what’s supposed to come. I think in 93 we had 52 inches. That was a bad one. Out of power for two weeks. But at least now I don’t have to go to work.

WOW!!
That had to be nasty.
I think the most I can remember is about 24 in. They referred to it has the Halloween blizzard. (1990) That one was good enough for me.

I hadn't been out for a couple hours when I posted before. Up to 11 1/2 now. The 2 wheel drive tractor definitely knew the snow was here. Glad the 4wd is in the shed to feed with.

Finally got up to 38 today and started melting. Got the driveway cleared with atv. DOT came through and filled in the end of my driveway again just as I opened it up. Said a few bad wordsThen back out cleaning it out again.

I think we actually got in the 50s today on my thermometer. A lot of the 14" left. I am ready to go but it doesn't seem like we can get a weekend without rain or snow.

It got up to 38 here and melted a little of the 14" I got yesterday. It's still about 10" deep in the yard. The concrete driveway and sidewalk melted a little more snow than what is in the yard. I will probably get my snow blower out tomorrow and clear the rest of the driveway. I went out 3 times yesterday with a snow shovel clearing a 10' x 10' area for my 2 miniature dachshunds. They don't like getting the bellies wet, and that only takes about 2".

Same here. Two tiny poodles here. Have to clear an area for them to go. But what does the little boy “Boo” do; he has to cross boundaries and go down into the deep stuff and wanted us to come get him. Made him self rescue himself. Did he learn anything. I’m sure not. https://youtu.be/QOtpTCorArE

I'm glad you guys are all OK up there....

We got back from Savannah last week, our 'Woodle' gave a funny look when we took her out on a morning that was in the mid to upper 40's. She's a FL dog.

I took a ride on my M/C as soon as we got home, it was that cold the girls at the bikini bike wash were wearing cut off teeshirts...
