Sad day II

I too have decided to move on and sold my CF30SK. A lot of reasons went into this decision, Age (both me and the 5'er!), Loss of desire to keep camping and world/country situations. The rig was a Pre-Thor and really a good unit as those of us that have been around a while can attest to. I had considered buying another rig but unless the quality situation improves, I doubt that will happen. So I want to thank all the members who have contributed to this forum and made it a great place to obtain and pass along information for the rest of us. 15years is a long time to be on a forum and a lot of great people have come and gone.

Good luck to all, and as I see a rig pass along the hi-way, I will be reminded of the fond memories of this site.

Wow Stan, that's like a kick in the guts to read your post. I know it will happen to all of us eventually. You and I have been here on the forum for about the same amount of time. You a little longer. You are correct, a lot of good people have come and gone. Sad.
I wish you the best life has to offer, and don't leave here for good, your contributions have been much appreciated and helpful.
I regret we didn't have a chance to meet at the TX. rally or when we were out in WA. the last time. Maybe some other day down the road.
Take care.

Best of luck Stan, and enjoy your non-camping adventures.

Sad to hear that but hang around. You have a lot of knowledge and experience to pass along. I agree on the older units. Seems they are building them faster that they can and most are already sold. Also around here camping spots are very hard to come by but lately it seems as things start to open up there are more sites available.

Good luck to you!

Lloyd, I know it was sudden. I had a chance to sell and I decided to jump on it. There are still a few that have been on this forum for quite a while and I could list all the names but - you, Keith (Hunter11), MaPachoo, Coastn, Cowboy71, FHenn, CWIT, Geondebi, Papa2 and there's too many more to list. All have been great to converse with and trade ideas. I will stick around a bit and maybe contribute some. Thanks to all......

Ya Stan when this forum started there wasn't just a whole bunch of members to begin with and it seemed kinda like family. Everybody was friendly and the talk was quite loose. Nobody worried about what was posted where. (probably we didn't know any better) I know the BS sure did flow. Like the old saying, "nothing is forever"

Best of luck to you Stan. I to know one day I will be there in your shoes. Camping sure isn’t what it once was. That’s for sure!

Good luck to you in all your future endeavors...I recognize most of the names you listed...Also I started out with a 2007 CF30SK, and you are correct they were better built campers when they were independent of the mega companies...Take care...

Hello Stan, It has been a while. I am not on here much anymore but happened to catch your thread. We still have our 06 CF29RE and have been wondering what to do also. Thought about something newer but then wondered how much longer are we going to do this. Also, not too sure about the quality of todays new units the way they are being pushed out. Ours is still hanging together and looks decent. Think we will stay with what we have for now and evaluate down the road.
Now you need to find something else to occupy your time. Hope all is well in Oak Harbor. We talk about the Texas Rally often.
Take care
Dennis

Dennis - thanks for the thoughts. Your comments are all the things we thought about before making our decision. The rig was a great unit but 15 years in the sun was taking its toll. We figured better to sell now than start putting money into it. It did hold up extremely well though - don't see very many people commenting on their newer rigs and how well they hold up. I read about a lot of issues involving leaks, slide mechanics, paint, etc. You and I and Lloyd and a few others bought at a good time! You take care down south.

Sad to see the news Stan, but I totally understand since we were forced to do the same with our 07 30sk last year. You were so helpful to us more than once. I feel like you are a good friend that we never met. Last year we were hit with 2 major hurricanes, a historical freeze, and now a flood all while wife is still very ill. Even sold our f350 last week, but we still have our memories. I think that life is a collection of memories, and you are one that I have of a very nice and helpful person. Best of luck!
