Just wondering what kinds of small appliances you take along to make meal time easier ? Â*I have a crockpot which I plug in outside under the awning so it doesn't heat up the inside of the trailer but that's about it.
Last season one of my neighbors teased us with the aroma of bacon cooking on an electric fry pan every morning. Â*I like the idea of the electric frying pan but I wouldn't want to scratch my nice white sink attempting to clean it in the trailer, although I noticed the ladies in Costco cooking up samples to give out in an electric frying pan lined with parchment paper, it's weird that it doesn't burn, has anyone tried it?
I tend to pre-cook most of my side dishes (things like baked stuffed potato's or rice pilaf) at home before we head out for the weekend so that I just have to reheat on the barbecue or microwave, also I like to make up potato or macaroni salad etc ahead of time so its all ready to eat.Â*
So what small appliance do you love to take with you?

Coffee maker, blender, toaster, and a few others. The 3 mentioned were all ones from the house that were replaced with newer or better models. Outside of the kitchen we also have the Sony Surround sound, Directv box. I also have a rechargeable tire inflator that I carry to keep the tires at max air pressure. We also have a large roaster that we take with us when camping over holidays to make Turkeys or such. Most of our cooking though is done on the Camp Chef stove or propane grill outside. I have 2 large cast iron griddles fro the bacon and cast iron skillets and dutch ovens for most of the cooking.

The coffee maker is a Mr. Coffee model that uses the same caraffe and filters as our Coleman stove top coffee maker we use when dry camping. That way we don't have to double up on the filters and have a spare caraffe if the unthinkable should happen...

Did I mention the blenderEdited by: shoetravel

My oh my. I don't even have those goodies at home. The only cooking that goes on in our 5er is the percolated coffee. Everything else is cooked outside on the briquette bbq and gas stove. Now that's campin' IMHO

I have to agree, we all tend to have a lot of the creature comforts of home. I'm like you, all our cooking takes place outside, we've only used the stovefor the kettlewhen dry camping and the oven to keep food warm. As far as real camping, I think we all gave that up when we purchased our RVs.

I have an electric fry pan, waffle iron, bullet blender, toaster and my new FAVORITE, a Redi-set-Go tabletop grill/cooker. My husband made me a garbage can cabinet with an appliance garage that I have the blender and toaster on, the rest are in the hutch.

oooh so many good ideas, I really want an electric mattress pad for those cold nights in the spring and fall and I am definitely going to get myself an electric frying pan (anyone know of a lightweight model ?).
Khunlinda can you tell me more about the garbage can cabinet and appliance garage this sounds very intriguing.
I forgot to mention one of my favorite take alongs is out Little Chief Smoker. Â*If my boys happen to go to the coast and get a good catch of Salmon they share with us. Â*We will start the brining process at home and then smoke it at the campground. Â*The aroma of smoked fish will bring out neighbors you didn't know you even had, lol

Right now we carry a lot of electric stuff. A toaster, a slow-cooker, a small toaster oven, a good quality twin electric plate, a small electric heater and one of those small Dust Devil vacs. The TT came with a microwave, disc player and radio. We carry one vertical oscillating van. Two reading lamps over the beds. We try to use as little propane as possible. We do cook on a small outdoor grill but not all the time. I like grilled food more than my husband does.
