I've been noticing on the most recent topics, brief commentary on 'wintering' or 'snowbirds'. Logically, it is that time of year. So I'm sure for some of us RVer's, going south for the winter is a major objective right now

My question to all is, what is your winteringdestination this year?I'd like to hear why youchoose this particular spot for making your winter nest.

I ask because someday in the not-so-distant future, there is a 'wintering' spot in our future. So any suggestions or recommendations will be greatly appreciated. And also, for selfish reasons, Ihave to live my 2010 winter by camping precariously through all you Snowbirds out there

Thanks for any and all info on this subject!!

We have been going to the Gulf Shores, Alabama area for a few years. Small town type area, but with lots of services, sights, and beautiful white sand beaches. Close to Pensacola and Mobile.

We are thinking of wintering in Gulf Shores also in 2012. Which parks do you use?

Flyone. Most winters January is mid fifties, upper thirties, low forties at nite. There will also be a mix of mid sixties days in January. February and March are mid sixties to mid seventies. Overall nice temps. Go to weather.com and type in Foley, Alabama or Gulf Shores and you can get the seasonal monthly averages.

We went to Kissimmee (near Orlando) last winter (Dec-Mar, '10). Before the trip we visited the area and found that East Lake RV Park was good. For the price ($400/mo) it was a bargain compared to others with same or fewer activities/amenities ($550 - $800/mo). The park is on a lake - looking across the lake is the town of St. Cloud. There is also a boat ramp for putting your boat in and plenty of areas for fishing. The RV Park is off Boggy Creek Rd, easy to get to from FL Turnpike, Orlando airport, Disney, shopping, site seeing, restaurants, etc.
Another reason we stayed there is that we were only 20 minutes from our new grandson!

We'll be going back this year - arriving mid-Dec and leaving mid to end April.
They take reservations with paid month deposit and pick a site at that time, if you wish. The "snowbird" area is really nice with asphalt drive-thrus/back-ins and concrete dining pads. We also found that there were empty sites if you just wanted to drive-in without a reservation. They have another area in the back of the park where permanent rigs are that are also very nice.

If interested - let me know and I'll get more info to you.

Leaving 8/1 for IN rally and will be back 8/19.

Nan & Pops---sounds good, was the $400 including eletric? If not ($400 + electrc) how much did your electric average per month?

We went in AZ for two winters, toTX for one and now inFL for two years.
AZ is best for the environment, things to see, dry air, mountain walks ,
Tx is best for prices, mexican american food and presentations
FL is best for climate, warmth . We prefer west side Port Charlotte

We have been wintering in Fostproof, Fl the past ten years. It's about 60 miles south of Orlando between Lake Wales and Sebring.
