I just found another recipe for SPAM I haven't heard before...wrap it in crushed saltine crackers and egg and fry it. Anybody else have a favorite recipe for SPAM? For those that say they hate it, how many of you really do have a can hidden in the camper someplace?

Fried spam & eggs for breakfast. Pretty basic, but what did I know when I was 18, in college, and never had much money.

We should start a thread, "Things we were made to eat as a child". Spam was one of them.

Boiled white rice, with milk and sugar on it

Fried mush with maple syrup

Open a can of salmon, dump it in a bowl, that was supper. To this day, I still hate salmon!

Liver and onions, YUK!

Ok, I never had the Salmon like that. Had salmon patties with cream of mushroom soup on top.

I am convinced that the salmon and liver was a form of child abuse. Getting back at us for being born.

My maternal grandparents always had spam around. My grandfather was a WWII vet and loved it. (It is my understanding spam was fed to the GIs so that must be where my grandfather developed a taste for it.) I never really disliked it but I never really liked it either.

My mom used to serve us liver and would tell us it was "steak". I could never quite understand why sometimes steak tasted "different". I did eventually figure it out. To this day I can't stand liver and we still joke about my mom's "steak".

Picky, picky, picky.

It all sounds delicious to me.

How about fried calf brains, kidney stew, mackeral patties, creamed parsnips, boiled potatos and turnips.....

And I still love to eat all those things.

Walt- You are one tough old salt! I mean that as a compliment. I have just had to cushy of a life... I know it and am grateful for it. I do love sardines in mustard sauce on saltine crackers. My dad and I used to snack on them while watching professional "wrasslin" on Saturday afternoons. That was back when it was "wrasslin" and not "sports entertainment".
