Suzy Q

??? - April 6th, 2011

We found Suzy Q in Aug., ‘99. An adult short-hair pointer at 34 lbs that someone had abused and thrown away in the mountains. She was diagnosed with Addison’s Disease in Jan., ‘03. She had a glorious life and with medication, triumphed over Addison’s, but couldn’t escape the difficulties of the years.

In the beginning, Suzy Q was afraid of people and hats, but she came to love people and tolerate hats. She was very reserved, never licking you or seeking attention, the only exception, she would stick her long nose between my legs and I would scratch both of her ears. She was always happy to be in the same room with us.She had three beds in the house and one in the trailer. Suzy Q was gentle, she never bit any one and got along great with smaller dogs and children. She never outgrew her fear of the raised hand or other object.

Suzy Q loved chasing squirrels, Frisbees, running thru the yard and just sitting on the front porch with me. She would also sit on my lap, well at least her front half was on my lap. She would sniff out butterflies, frogs and just once, a scorpion. She hated buzzards, bees and wasps.

Suzy Q loved to travel anywhere as long as she was with us. She always knew when we were getting ready to leave. On the road, she would quickly lay down on the back seat but pop up any time we slowed down. She didn’t like the noise of big trucks or driving over cattle guards. While traveling, she didn’t like to be out of sight of the truck or trailer. Suzy Q would ‘sing’ when left alone and that was a minor issue when we were staying in the RV. She also knew immediately every time we got within a mile of home.

Suzy Q loved to eat and would begin searching for food an hour before her mealtime. She didn’t beg while we were eating, rather sitting patiently for a small treat and she always knew when we had eaten out.

Suzy Q always took her shots and medications like a trooper. So today she lay down with her nose between my knees as I scratched her ears. Today, Suzy Q left the vets office by a different door. We will miss terribly, Suzy Q’s brown nose, golden eyes and gentle trust.

Larry,

Having been through this 4 times in the past two years we know how hard it is and what youmust befeeling and going through. At least she got one last camping trip in to the Texas rallybefore she went. Hang in there and time will heal your pain. K&B

Heartfelt condolences...been there.
We have been there 3 times.
Our last boy was on medication for over 2 years, with many problems, also.
We have very fond memories of the boys.

So very sorry for your loss. My second best friend in the world just passed away a month ago. My little furry friend was with me 19 years. I do know how you must feel. All the best.

Larry,

May the joy and happiness Suzy Q brought you these past 11 years be of comfort to you. At least animals have the luxury of being spared suffering because of loving owners such as yourselves.

Like everyone before me has said I am sorry for loss of Suzy Q. It is so hard as they become so much of the family. In the jurt of her being gone remember all the love and joy she gave you over the past years.

Our hearts go out to you for your loss as so many others we have been through this as well. It is a testament to our Furry companions as well as the 2 legged ones. The bonds we forge in this life are so strong. We grieve together and recover remembering the good times we shared.
