We are planning a trip to Rocky Mountain national Park then into Utah and down to the Glen Canyon area. How is I-70 west of Denver? We have pulled over Monarch pass several time and over wolf creek once while the east side was under construction. We will be pulling our Kingston 30SB.

Interstate highways have a 6% grade limit. The only thing I would watch for is the long straight grades. First going up as you can get into an overheat problem. Use the Tow Haul if you have it. Second going down. Start out slow and geared down. Much easier to go up a gear than going down a gear.

Today, Monday the 3/08/10 I70 is closed east of Glenwood Springs due to rock slides. There are some holes through the elevated sections of the highway. I believe one hole is about 10 by 20 feet in size. It will be a while before I 70 is reopened. There is also rock damage on lower section also.

I-70 will be opening soon, if it isn't already open.

There is one lane open each direction (due to the rock slide last week), unless you are 14 feet wide or more, than you will have to do the detour. If you made itover Wolf Creek ok you should be fine with all the I-70's passes from Denver to Salt Lake City.
