I may be "stuck" with my GMC, but I don't really care how powerful you think or they make your Fords, I WILL NEVER own one of them, I wouldn't "unstick" from my GMC for 3-4 of those Fords, if it's the only truck strong enough to tow a rv then I have a rv for sale. IMO anyone owning a Ford is "stuck" with them. That's my story & sticking to it, enjoy the rest of the war without me, I'll keep reading, but can't be convinced to EVER switch to your brand.

I liked my GM trucks, had two of them. Way more reliable than the Dodge trucks on the road at the time and better built than the Fords at the time as well (last GM I had was a 96 Sierra 5.7L before my 05 F250). I just won't buy products from companies that take tax payer dollars. You're not a publicly traded company when that happens. Same reason I won't fly Air Canada or buy Bombardier products. Personal thing for me.

Well this looks to be a ford / chevy thing.

Ram rules, no question. Everyone agrees I see.

But eventually, maybe you'll see the error of your ways.
After driving ford and dodge company trucks over the last 40 years I will gladly stay stuck with a GM. I would take a used Chevy over a new ford

Yeah Lloyd. I hope everyone realizes this is just a fun thread and although I love my Ford, everyone has the own opinion on brands and I respect that opinion. I don't want anyone to get offended by my posts. This thread is just to play around and bust on other brands. I hope everyone realizes that.

New Dog in this fight

So Saturday I pulled the trigger and closed on my new truck. A 2016 Nissan Titan XD, Crew Cab SV, with the 5.0L Cummins, V-8, turbo diesel paired to to an Aisin 6 speed.

Specs:
555 lb-ft of torque at 1,600 RPM
GVWR = 8,990
GCWR = 19,450 (12,300 lb tow capacity)

It hits the middle ground of having more power and capacity than a standard 1/2 ton, but not quite as much as standard 3/4.

And before the "buy american" talk gets started, it contains more american made parts than any of the GM's and final assembly is in the USA, unlike GM which is made in Mexico.

Will be hooking up the trailer and taking it on our first trip next weekend, and can't wait to see how it hauls.

Well CFun I wish you all the best with the new, aah, truck. We will be waiting to hear a report back on how it performs for you.
I have been curious myself on that one.
Anyway I feel pretty sure it will do better then the GM 1/2 ton.

I'm guessing with the little diesel it will do better pulling than any of the gas jobs in the half tons

My big Japanese truck was built in Texas. I have enjoyed the disagreements and most of all the pictures. When does Round 2 start?

1/2 ton pickup specs

Wrong again woodwalker, it's still not up in payload capacity like the F150.

1/2 TON PICKUP SPECS

Nissan Titan XD 12,000 towing, payload 2000 lbs, torque 550@1600 HP 555 @ 1,600RPM

Chevy/Gmc 12,000 towing, payload 1820 lbs, Torque 383 ft-lbs. @ 4100 rpm 355 hp @ 5600 rpm

Ram1500 10,650 towing, payload 1930 lbs, torque 410 @ 3950 395 @ 5600

Ford F150 12200 towing, payload 3300 lbs, torque 420 @ 2500 rpm HP 365 @ 5000 rpm

HP and Torque goes to Nissan, but payload low
Towing capacity and payload capacity to F150
Chevy/GMC & RAM OK for pop ups and 20' travel trailers

2017 ford new options
Aluminum frame to lighten up the truck for pushing home
Heated tailgates for those in colder climates
front tow hooks standard.
free dog with every purchase, so you have company on the long walk home
front mounted camera so you can see if the chain has slack in it
Schwinn folding bicycle, so you don't have to wait for the wrecker

There things I've learned from this topic:

One person's bad is another's bad ass

Love the term Ego-boost...seems appropriate and you could change boost to boast...

Lloyd loves stirring the pot...

Do the Rams still have that awful dial for a gear shift lever? Loved the truck, but that simple little thing was a deal breaker for me!

All GM 1/2 ton crew cabs are built in Mexico. They moved production of their top selling truck south after getting the US government bailout. Based on this fact alone, I would never buy a GM product.

My Titan's listed towing capacity is 12,300. I looked long and hard at the F-150, but with the Nissan I could get a diesel with essentially the same ratings and more comfort and convenience options for $9,000 less.
