I understand Denny is having a Dodge tow his unit to Dallas and than changing over to his Ford there to complete the trip to the Texas rally

Rumor has it Ford is giving up on its diesel and replacing it with a European design. I wonder if Chrysler would share it Cummings with Ford.

oh boy....its that time of the year again. all kidding aside i would love to see a cummins in the f250-f550 line. we have two f650's at work that came w/ cummins and they are bullet proof. my perfect fantasy truck would be a ford truck w/ a cummins motorand a allison trans.

let the games begin.

I see that Ford, Dodge and GM are all working on higher output gassers!!! I'm excited about that prospect - the diesel's are nice to "dream" about but their MSRP increases, decreases in MPG and complexity associated with new EPA regulations have shopper's looking at the gasser again.

Understand the Chev/GMC cannot keep up on making the duramax so in Jan of 2010 they are raising the priice by 4 grand. Of course a Chev salesman told me this as they still had a 2009 sitting on the lot, but no 2010. What a story

True GM will be with out the Duramax for five months while the change over for the new emissions. They have stopped the van production last month and the pick up production ends in Dec. I got this from fleet news about a month ago

I saw an article in the Oct issue of Light & Medium Duty Truck about Fords new Power Stroke. It's a 6.7 liter V8, has a "compacted graphite iron block and a single-sequintial turbo. It also has aluminum cylinder heads." They have also reversed the exhaust and intake ports on the heads. The exhaust manifold is located at the top of the engine on the inboard side of the heads. The article stated that the engine will be built at Ford's Chihuahua, Mexico plant

Yeah, if you ever make the mistake of buying anything year one, it tends to stick with you for quite some time. It will be very interesting to see how this engine performs once they get the wrinkles ironed out.

Ford can't get it right so every 3-4 years they try a new one. Get a Dodge and in spite of all you Dodge haters the Cummins just keeps on Truckin. Ours is 5 years old and still looks good, everything works and the engine and 48 re tranny seem bulletprof. Check the trucks that deliver RVs out of Elkhart and you will see that the majority are Dodge's

I had an interesting exchange with the owners of the body shop that I've been going to for years. These guys are and have been loyal Dodge owners for years. They recently did more than $13000 of work on my F250. They had to take it for some sublet work and both remarked (unsolicited by me, I might add) that they couldn't believe how well built the Ford truck was. They even went so far as to say that Dodge has "alot of catching up to do" to get it right. They were both shocked at the difference in construction quality and the ride.

I'm pretty sure they weren't blowing smoke up my tail pipe ... I've known and been doing business with them for more than 20 years. Not to say they'll replace their Dodges with Fords, but the opinion of two professionals who do know the difference in build quality. I was in a hurry and didn't have time to talk to them, but thought their comments were pretty interesting. Though I'm on my second Ford I'm not a died in the wool Ford guy either. Each time I've purchased a truck I've entered into the search with an open mind.

If your mind isn't already made up this might be something to consider ... if build quality is important to you.

Apparently the engine is a European Ford design that is very quiet and efficient, so it is not entirely new. according to he same article Ford is embroiled in legal battles over the recurring engine problems with the suppliers of the International diesel engines. Now that they will be using their own engines perhaps they will produce a true SUPER DUTY Truck

Papa2,

An 05 that needed 13,000 worth of work. Unless it was a wreck what happened?

Other vehicle ran a red light at a busy intersection. I had the green light and couldn't see the other vehicle. T-boned him with a full frontal hit at about 45mph. The good news is we both walked away from the accident. I normally commute with a small car. Sure am glad I had the truck that morning

Insurance company paid $10000 less than if they had totaled it. If there had been another $4-5000 in damage I'm sure they would have.

I was just thinking that had to be close, I hope you don't have any issues with it with that much damage.

I bought a 2000 Olds Elero back in 1999 and had 1800 miles on it when I pulled out in front of a guy ( snowy and could not see ) They paid $18.000 to repair a car I only paid $19 something for, They cat the car in half and put a new front end off a car that had been in a flood. I was a little upset, I threatened legal action if they would not total it but they said I had to do what I had to do, We put 50,000+ trouble free miles on that car before trading it in.
