Did you get a TV converter box for your trailer?

We did not get one, at least not yet.

Did not think about it until late last week. When I went to the website on Mondayto get my coupon, I was put onto a waiting list. Seems the funding that was allocated was all used up on Sunday. We need to wiat for more funding to be approved.

Saw on another site that the website was not working properly and had to call 1-888-388-2009.

We got coupons and we did not read the rest of the information with them. We were waiting to find out which boxes were better and read reviews. They expired 90 days after issue. We cannot get any more or exchange these. We got the coupons when they first starting mailing them out.

I'm not sure everyone here is on the same page. Â*If you have a digital or HDTV now, you do NOT need the converter box. Â*Any TV purchased within the past couple of years probably does not need one. Â*Only if you have an analogue television like a CRT. Â*Then you need one.

I'm a throw back. Â*I do NOT have dish nor do I have cable. Â*All my television is over the air broadcasts. Â*I receive the digital broadcast just fine with my HDTV CRT (Sony XBR960), no converter box and with the 13" Panasonic analogue WITH converter box and the Haier lcd digital tv in the trailer without a converter.

If you have a newer tv, an lcd, plasma or other digital tv you probably will not need the converter box. Â*Just remember the analogue likes channels 3, 8, 13, 35, 41. Â*Digital likes 3.1, 3.2, 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 13.1, 13.2, 35.1, 35.2, 35.3, 41.1 and 41.2. Â*This is at home. Â*The Haier in the trailer likes 3.0, 8.0, 13.0 & etc. Â*Same concept, just different numbering system.

heres some info on receiving the $40 coupons for the converter box.

the website is www.dtv2009.gov the phone# is 1-888-388-2009 the address is tv converter box coupon program po box 2000,portland,OR 97208-2000

our trailer tv's are older and we tend to dry camp so we need them.you can request one or two coupons.it looks like they offer about 70 different boxes so we are going to wait a little longer to get some feedback on any of the boxes offered.i'll post when i pick them up.

I ordered 2 coupons on Sunday. I think I got the last ones then they started putting people on the waiting list. we have an old tv in the trailer. I want a new flat screen for the trailer but the "need list" trumps the "want list". We also need a converter box for the house. We have satellite but it goes out when we have really heavy storms and i switch to the rabbit ears.

I don't think my Haier TV has a digital tuner.Because it pulled in no digital channels.

I submitted for my (2) $40.00 couponsearly summer. I got them in about 6 weeks later, but it took me about 85 days to find the boxes. Everybody was sold out. Then 1 day my dad was at K-Mart and asked for them and they had them coming the next day. Next day I drove to K Mart and got my boxes, just in time before the coupon expired. I hooked one boxto eachTV and they worked great. I have the Magnovox boxes they are simple smalleasy to use, unfortunately youget another remote (it is universal). We don't watch much TV when in the trailer, but I really do like that you get a NOAA channel. Which to me is priceless. Also, I like the signal is on or off no static. Total cost for both boxes was about $20 with tax

And I have no idea why my post end with the "popup control"... Sorry

If I can install one right the first time around then it must be easyÂ*Â*If you see a tool in my hands you are best off heading in the opposite direction for your own safety.

No harder than connecting a dvd player or vcr (remember those) to the tv. Â*Just line in from antenna and line out to the box.

Since they cost $20-$30 with the coupon, must be $60-70 without.

Thanks for the info. Probably end up buying a unit when we're south of the border so that we can use the Batwing.

My converters cost $49 each without the coupons. They are simple to install as a dvd player.. It's the programming the remote and getting the channels memorized that takes reading the manual.

I wish I would have done it sooner.. Footballand Nascar look pretty damn good Edited by: salda01

Consumer Reports website had a "compare list" on the converter boxes. We got our 2 at Best Buy. Haven't hooked them up yet, but used Consumer Reports ratings to make our choice. One of the TV's we have in the Cruiser is about 12 years old...thus the need for the box.
