Wax job

Well I started waxing the camper today, As I sit here taking a break and sweeting. You don't know how big it is until you wax it lol. I'm not sure if I will get it all done today or not.

I did mine last summer in one shot. Couldn't lift a beer when I was done. Next time...two steps with recovery time in between.

I have 1 side left to do on mine.

I did the street side last week and the front cap and back 2 weeks ago.

We have an RV resort about 100 miles from us and they have a guy and his helper that come out to the resort and wash and wax RV's. They charged us $170 to wash the roof and trailer then wax it.We are headed there between Christmas and NewYears this year and I am already on the list.We plan on a trip there at least twice a year just to have the trailer done. For that price my days of up and down the ladder are over.

Yea Keith, But you know what they say, If you want it done right do it your self. I'm kinda picky and don't realy mind doing it. $170 sounds like a good price.

I must say I didn't think it would make this big of a difference.

I could not agree more and I am probably one of the most picky people you will ever meet about all our stuff (just ask a few of the folks on here that know me) but when it is 95* to 100*+ here and 40% to 60% humidity I am willing to let someone else do the really painful things as long as they do a good job and these guys do. The last time I washed and waxed our trailer I hurt for 3 or 4 days afterwards. I have begun to learn that some times it is good to sit in the shade with a frosty beverage and let someone else younger do the hard stuff.

It took me 5 days to complete the job

One day on the roof, one day for each side and one day on the front end. Under neath that nose just kills my back. Then one day to finish the back and clean and lube the wipers on the slide and all the hatch gaskets.
Then took it out and got the front end all full of bug guts.

It took me two and half days to wash the roof,trailer and wax it. Put new tires on today. There is always something to do to keep you busy.

Well, The cap is all thats left. It might not get done today though. I do need to clean the slide scrapes or what ever you want to call them.

Keith, Now that you put it that way I think I could lower my standards a little lol

I polished the front cap once. That was enough for me.

When we were in Hurricane Utah April/May, we got a mobile detailer from St George to come over and they washed the roof, trailer, awining, slide seals, and my truck. Then they claybarred the truck, polished the rims and waxed truck and trailer. It cost more than 170, but boy they sure look good now!

I don't do it much now, But I used to detail cars on the side for a little extra money and I actually enjoied it. I sill like doing my own stuff and there are people I will do it for now.

I think I'm going to polish the front cap, Or at least a spot on it. I don't care for how it looks. I would like to see what it looks like after a little polishing compound on the buffer.

I just waxed both our trucks this morning and that is the most waxing I want to dofor the next3 months.

Speaking of waxing... Is is just me or does the front cap have a different gel gloss than the sides? I have waxed my front cap several times and it still doesn't have the same shine as the sides. Could it just be oxidation that a orbital buffer will clear up?

Lloyd, I could go 6 months I am just anal with my stuff. Most of the time I do it every couple of months.

I believe the sides are different from the front cap .I used Meguiar's marine/RV high gloss polish #45,Then followed it up with the # 56 Marine/RV wax and am very happy with the results the polish is touted to feed the pores of the gel-coat.I don't know if it really works that way but i am very happy with the look of the finish,Now if I could only finish that other side.Oh my aching back!

Joyce is actually looking forward to bringing the trailer up to the house for its annual detailing including waxing. Can use it after our Mar-April trip. Imagine a helper with a lot of energy and a positive attitude! One more day and the snow will be melted on the far corner of the turnaround in our driveway. That's a requirement to bring the trailer in.

Hooray! Spring is here.

How far notrth do you have to live to still have snow ??? And I thought I was in the cold zone.
