Hi Folks..

I read somwhere about upgrading a roof top air conditioner to the next size larger and i can not seem to find it or i am mistaken. I believe my ac has gave up the gost and i want to swap it out with a new one, Either the excact same or better yet the next size larger if i can.. Can i plunk a larger one over the same whole and duct work?

I would think that a Dometic 15 would be the same size as the 13.. I would call your closest RV dealer and ask them.

Dan, I am pretty sure a 15k will fit right in where your 13.5k is but you will need to make sure you get the ducted model.

Is there benifits from having the 15 you think? Mine struggled on the hot days.. A bit more cooling power would be nice when it is 95 and sunny out.. I tobelieve i need the ducted model, I have been looking all morning and a bit confused, Some say i will need some interior changes, some don't. Confused at the moment. Dimensionally the 13.5 and 15 appear to be the same footprint. Thanks for your replies.

Dan, my opinion is you can never have "to much" AC. The price difference is minimal and I would go with the 15k if you can swing it. It wil have to work less in warmer weather than the 13.5k did. If your 13.5k struggled on hot days there should be your answer.

Look at your current model. Does it have the controls on it or do you have a thermostat mounted on the wall. If you have a thermostat it is a ducted model. If the controls are mounted on the unit non-ducted. AFAIK.

Either way it's really just stick it in, hook up the wires, and go on as long as you replace with the same type unit. I guess you could replace a ducted with a non-ducted but I wouldn't know why. The other way wouldn't work, no ducts scattered around the trailer.

If they made 20k or 30k units that's what I would have. Texas heat is brutal and I don't pay for the electricity anyway.
