Hello, looking for some info on A/C units. Is there a difference between a ducted A/C unit and a non ducted unit. I think I've read in this forum or another one somewhere, (but can't find it now) the A/C units are designed to fit a 14 inch opening. The difference is the application. Whether the unit is attached to a ducted ceiling or not. Am I right in this thinking?

Thanks, Jerry

I have the same think you have. All of them fit in the 14 in cut in the roof. I have both in my PP as the rear AC that came with the trailer is ducted. The unit blows down on a blank off and then through ducting in the overhead. I also have a non ducted in the bedroom where the controls and vents are on the below the unit. I also think all the AC units are the same but the lower part of the unit depends if you have ducting and wiring for the thermostat.

I may be wrong but all the ducted systems I have seen use a wall thermostat and cycle the unit off and on like a home unit. The non-ducted units don't have this feature, they have a fan speed which doesn't cut off and a temp control from 0-10 which cycles the compressor. Fan runs all the time.

The newer non ducted units may be different but that's my experience. I wouldn't have anything but ducted air.
