an F250 ?
Ok, so we have an F150 v6 ecoboost. We used to have a 27ft travel trailer that was about 5400lbs empty. When we packed up we never had issues pulling the RV.
We just upgraded to a new travel trailer that is 37ft long and about 7600lbs empty. We took our first trip on flat highways about 2hrs away from home.
We knew we'd definitely notice the difference but now we think maybe an F250 will be better so we're not white-knuckling down the road. We do plan on longer road trips. My question is, WILL I notice the benefit with the F250 or should I just get used to pulling a bigger RV?

Well in my opinion you would notice the difference!! A 37' 5er with a 1/2 ton truck, not me even if it was that big powerful V6 Ford.

I have a 2015 F-250 SD and tow a CR ST 32RL 5er that weighs 8,500 dry. It easily pulls this trailer. Our previous trailer was a 1999 32RL Forest River 5er that weighed just under 11,500 pounds dry. I pulled it with a 2005 F-250 SD and had no problems pulling the heavier trailer. I'm very happy with my 2015 F-250.

Proof is in my picture, but my Ecoboost is the heavy duty towing, heavy duty payload, Roadmaster active suspension and slotted and drilled rotors with heavy duty semi metallic discs.
Weighed rv is around 10600lbs. 37' long. Been up and down the east coast, through mountains of Virginia and I live on top of a mountain overlooking the Appalachian trail. Absolutely no problems climbing and decending.

Given that you've changed rv's once, if you are like the rest of us, it's not a one time occurrence
Before you d a 250, get the 350, only about 900 difference and may save you a trade down the road...

The picture looks like you may need airbags or at least adjust the headlights

We upgraded last year from a GMC 2500 to an F250 diesel. The diesel makes all the difference in the world. It has tons more power. We love the hill descent feature. It takes all the guesswork out of going down a hill. My husband never wanted a diesel but we got a really good deal on it. Now he loves his diesel! Also, we fuel up where the big trucks do. Not only is there more space for maneuvering a big rig there, but the fuel comes out of the hose a lot faster. And they also have a hose for dispensing DEF.

I would like to have a diesel, but my truck is my everyday driver, short trips under 2 miles. I've heard those short trips are not good for the diesel. But I'm very satisfied with my Ecoboost.

I have heard that too. We have a car for use at home, but when we are on the road then obviously the truck is our only vehicle.
I know a couple who had a 1998 Dodge diesel which they just replaced this spring. It was their only vehicle, for towing and everything else. It lasted a very long time for them.

all of our ford diesels (5 or 6 iirc!) were everyday drivers around town...
never had a problem with the engines from it (except for once that we got a bad tank of fuel from the service station)
but then again, we've not had a hiccup out of the ecoboost in the explorer sport in 70k miles either - and I have FUN with the paddle shifters and all when the wife lets me drive HER car
I tell her I have to 'EX-ER-SIZE' it when she complains...

My only issue with a diesel was my '05 F-250 SD. With California's crappy diesel fuel, it would carbon up the turbo vanes. Had to have the turbo rebuilt 3 times. Thank goodness for extended warranties. Plus Ford did have problems with the 6.0L diesel engine doing exactly what mine did. I ended up having to use 8 oz of Cetane per tank to solve the carbonizing issue.
The new 6.4L Ford diesel seems to have solved this issue (hopefully) by using DEF. My truck is a daily driver too. With 20K miles, no issues so far.

My 6.7 Platinum had 65k when I traded it in on the rv --- LOVED that truck and miss it

F250 Pulling
I have a 2015, Cruiser 322RL. I pull it with a 2012 F250 gas 6.2. I have nothing but good things to say about it. I just returned from our 2nd long trip, NH to NC. Last one was NH to SC last summer. Had zero issues pulling. With fluctuating gas/diesel prices, I would almost say that the cost per mile must be pretty comparable....
