Atwood water heater

Atwood gc6aa-10e quit working on both gas and power.

No power at lights to turn water heater on, as well as no power for the display to check battery and tank levels.
Everything else is working, all breakers and fuses check out.
Any ideas?

Sounds like a 12v feed wire has come loose. My first thought (as you say the fuses check good) is to check the wiring behind each of the boxes (W/H switch and tank level indicators) to see if you can find a loose or disconnected wire. You didn't post your rig, year and model so please do that...

Because you have more than 1 system not working - water heater and tank level/battery level - i would start by pulling the system control panel and check for power. Also double check the fuses again sometimes they look ok but are not.

One other thing the breakers are for 110 fuses are for the 12 volt side. Your water heater when on 110 still uses 12 volt to activate a relay to turn on the 110 to the element.

Let us know what you find out.

Thanks for the help. When I pulled the control panel there is a 5 amp fuse inside the wall for the switches. I replaced this and everything is working again. Will try to post pic in case anyone has same problem in the future.

Thanks for the info. I had no idea that a fuse would be hidden behind the control panel.

Most all RV CONTROLS are 12vdc, so if battery not good, (usually) NOTHING works, often even 120vac stuff? Your mileage may vary

If you are on 110 even with the battery disconnected everything 12 volt still works unless the converter is bad. The converter supplies all the 12 volt needs of the camper and maintains the charge of the battery. The camper is not actually running from the battery but from the converter.

But if battery disconnect is "on"/"disconnected" the batteries will not be charging & will eventually be dead even while plugged in.

My comment was in response to TerryH. If plugged in to 110 everything 12 volt will work with or with out a battery installed or connected as long as the converter is good. Yes you need to leave the battery connected to charge it.
