I am trying to get the hotwater tank working after winterizing it.
I am just getting luke warm water, coming out of the taps. But, the water in the tank is hot.
I had it on electric but also switch to gas, and heard the heater go on and stay on for a bit, obviously heating the water.

So, during winterizing, I figured out there was two valves. A plastic one going to the tank, PVC that actually has winterize/in-use, and the one that got me puzzled for the longest time was the metal yellow valve, that was difficult to turn, actually couldn't until I used pliers. This valve only allows a half turn, and this one prevented the anti freeze from entering the tank.

So, I thought reverse what I did last fall. Should work...

Nope. I can hear the water going into the tank, but when I turn the water on, it is only luke warm. Any thoughts?

If you have one of the new water heaters the yellow valve is the mixing valve, I beleive. It sounds like you may be putting too much cold in the mix causing the output to be luke warm.

That is really does not make sense.
If I turn the valve it reduces to water flow to the facet...

You should have gotten a manual for the hot water tank with the other paper work. Chrck and see if you have a mixing valve. Most hot water heaters do not have hand wheels for diverters.

I am going to follow this one for sure. Our water is so "HOT"if you bump the control knob you will certainally get "SCALDED" because the water is so hot. I was hoping to ask the factory rep ?? at the Rally what could be done. Mine is actually dangerous in my opinion and should not be used by either of us. Maybe if I can talk to him I hope he may be able to help with a few minor things that are wrong with our unit.

Thanks

Art you should call the factory or your dealer to see what you can do. The thermostast on most hot waater tanks are not adjustable.

I am having the same issue with the tank in my Hampton. The hot water was fine last year.

After de-winterizing this year the water is luke warm. I know there is a non adjustable mixing valve. I have the same 2 valves mentioned by ratzie, both are in the open position.

Anyone figure it out?

I've attached a couple of pictures to see if they will help you.

The first picture is of the general piping of my water heater, which I believe is similar to yours, with the exception of my homebrew accumulator.

The second pair of pictures show the valve positions for winter and summer.

Note the valve positions for each season.

Winter Season: Bypass Valve Handle ->vertical

Diverter Valve Handle ->vertical

Summer Season: Bypass Valve Handle ->horizontal

Diverter Valve Handle ->horizontal

I hope that this helps.

I had the same issue. So one of the values needs to be open and the other needs to be closed. They both never are open at the same time. The Yellow one is for mixing in the cold water, right? I also had low water pressure with them both open.

CampingWI,

What yellow valve are you talking about? There shouldn't be any valve for mixing the hot and cold water. A picture of your valving arrangement would be nice.Edited by: Hamops

I called the manufacture. The yellow brass valve needs to be closed and the other plastic valve needs to be open when using it. The values are reversed to winterize. But the hot water is still luke warm, so they said the mixer is junk and the relief valve also leaks. The trailer is not even a year old yet. It is all covered by warranty but how can a person enjoy camping when evertime, there is an issue to deal with. Camping is to be fun. Well, CrossRoads has not made this camping season any enjoyable.

VERY UNHAPPY HAMPTON OWNER!!!!!
