I need to replace the fabric on my 2004 CF27RL. The information tag has faded and I cannot read it. My awning arms measure 18feet in width. Any help would be appreciated

It's probably 17ft fabric if your arms are 18'. Camping World has the fabric usually in stock or can get it quite quickly. For a better measurement measure the awning tube and it will be withing a couple of inches close to what you need.

I talked to a dealer about replacing the fabric on my last TT. He strongly recommended having someone familiar with awnings do the work and explained the delicacies of dealing with the strong springs. He definitely talked me out of doing it myself. Involving a dealer will also take the measuring guesswork out of the equation.

I suspect that if you contact CrossRoads and give them the serial number of your trailer, they'll be able to give you the model number and manufacturer of the awning on your unit.

Then, it's just a matter of contacting the manufacturer or even another manufacturer with that information and they'll be able to get you new fabric. I also suspect that getting it from the mfg will be less expensive than from CW.

If you are reasonably competent with hand tools and can read and understand directions, putting the fabric on the trailer is something you can do as long as you have a helper.

If you aren't competent in using hand tools , those springs can do a lot of damage to the human body if they get loose.

I helped my dad replace his awning years ago. We were concerned about the stored energy in the spring and how to handle it so we wound it up while it was near the ground to get a feel for it. Once it was wound up I had to figure out how to let go. I thought pulling my hand away quickly would do the trick. Well I wasn't quick enough and it broke my finger in a "spiral fracture". I ended up with a cast from above my elbow to my finger. We did finish installing it but in hind sight I think taking it to a professional is good advice.

You guys are all correct. I never thought that if you have to ask about measuring your awning you really shouldn't attempt to repair it yourself.

Mine is getting weathered where the sun beats down when it is rolled up so I asked CW how much to replaced and here is the figures. 17 foot A&E awning... 235 for the awning, 65 to ship to the west coast, and 125 to install.

This reminds me of the AMEX commercial:
Awning - $235
Shipping - $65
Installation - $125
Not breaking your finger and spending a month in a cast - Priceless
