Has anyone had to replace the awning pull strap? Mine broke off inside the tube as I was putting away my awning in a storm(at 4 in the morning in my underwear). The replacement strap needs to go in the slot of the tube, but the tube is sealed at both ends by the endcaps. Not sure if there is any tricks or if I have toremove one of the endcaps. I'm afraid if I take off an endcap I might damage the spring. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Just cut a slot in the end. If you look at the cap it should already have it but i'm guessing some one did not line it up.

Yes, I agree. There should be a slot already there. The same slot that you use to slip the hooks in to hang the lights to the awning.

I carry an extra strap for just such an event. Learned that lesson the hard way!

I thought the strap went in the other smaller slot, not the large on were you can put light hangers. The smaller slot does not have an opening at the end. I don't think the stop is big enough to keep the strap in the larger slot??? I will have to take a closer look at it when I receive the new strap.

Only one opening in mine. I slide the awning light tabs to the center and the pull strap to the closed end.

Is there any video of that event? That could be very entertaining

I pull the strap out of the tube everytime I put the awning out.It just slips out of one end of the tube.

Sounds easy enough. Thanks everyone!

I sure hope there is no video, altough I'm sure everyone would get a good laugh out of it if there was!
