So this is probably the wrong time of year for most of youto ask this question, but here goes...Was wondering if any of you have purchased a sunscreen for the front of your awning? Any suggestions or advice on pros and cons?

Yes we bought one this summer off the shelf. Our awning is 13 ' the one we got was 10'.It helps to hold down awning in breezy conditions using stakes.Cons are not supposed roll up awning with it attached so must be removed.Ours is a power awning.Pros, does provide good shade and some privacy.Would like to get something for the end but don,t have any supports being a power awning.Being a little short doesn't bother us as we can position it one way or the other for shade where we want it.

We boughtasun shadelast summer, for about $50. It was twelve feet long which was the same size as our awning. We had to buy a set of hangers with S-hooks so that we could hang the shade. We had to install the shade after the awning is rolled out. The shade made a considerable difference. It shaded the area under the awning, allowed air to flow through and gave us some privacy. We were able to sit outside our trailer during the day without getting sunstroke or burned.

We bought one last year and really like it. It shades the patio area and gives some privacy. Well worth the investment.

Ditto! We got ours at CmpWrld, it fits across theentire front of awning, and as others have said, we pin the corners down and it can be a pain when wind causes us to roll up awning or whatever, but DW likes it, so ......
Also have strap to hold awning down in winds ...

I purchased the one that we have from RVToyOutlet.com. It is 8'x16' and will wrap around one end of my awning. It attaches to the same hooks that I use for my patio lights. When I purchased it they were on sale for $39.99 with $19.05 shipping for a total price of $59.04.

We bought the Dometic Patty O'Shade on sale at CW when we had our Blue Ridge 5er. It slid in the slot in the awning drum and we always just took the tie downs off and rolled it up in the awning. Never caused a problem. I can't remember the exact price, but it was less than a hundred bucks.

3 sources for Sun Shade Material - - inexpensive:

1. WalMart Garden Centers; They sell it as "Plant Shade" or "SunBlocker" andcan be indifferent colors. Is Cheap/temporary quality.

2. Building supply BigBox stores; "Trash Hauling Trap" works as 50% or darker sun shade. Comes w/ edgeing & Grommets.

3. "FarmTek.com" Have lotsof sun screen ("SunBlocker")materials. Order any size, any % of shading, even silvered reflective sun screen; "Aluminet", 60% sun block. Extremely good people to work w/; "Field of Dreams" Iowa area.
