Awning surprise

Opened my awning to clean it before our Myrtle Beach trip and this is what I found.
Disappointed and mad that the awning is disintegrating already.
Will repair with clear Gorilla tape and heat seal it. Hopefully, it will survive my next 3 out of state outings.

When you get a replacement I would recommend going with the fabric awning rather than the vinyl. Mine is 10 years old and looks like new.

The two materials I found are vinyl and acrylic. The acrylic is a breathable material. Of course, vinyl is not.
So when you say fabric, do you mean acrylic?

After examining the awning better, I see that the problem is with the leading edge of the awning. Even the hem on the leading edge are starting to fray.

My son is going to make a 3D protector to place on the upright of the awning to prevent wind damage as I travel. Hopefully it will protect it when I install a new awning next spring.

In the meantime, we'll install a prototype to see how it holds up when traveling.

Acrylic. My awning is an A&E with the metal protector when rolled up.

The Best Material Available

While expensive, the best material for outdoor exposure is Sunbrella. I have had aircraft wing covers for over 15 years, made of sunbrella, still in almost perfect condition. As in yours, the stitching is the most vulnerable part.

My awning is doing something similar. Thanks for the tip on the Gorilla tape. I think I will give it a try and see if we can get some more life out of the awning before we replace it.

But I belive with acrylic fabric you change to metal roller cover.
Or. I used 15oz. Vinyl from shade pro in San Diego California. Reasonably priced free shipping no tax
Just take a look
Always. Its the stitching that goes 1st
