Something seems a little fishy here. I can't seem to wrap my head around why it is. Here are some numbers I got from a truck inspection station scale. (it was closed, so I helped myself to the scales). Keep in mind I have adjusted all these numbers from KGS to LBS.
Truck Front Axle: 5236lbs (5500lb axle rating-- why is it so heavy?)
Truck Front and Rear Axle (w/tongue wt): 11968lbs (a little heavy because of front axle?)
Truck Rear Axle (w/tongue wt): 6732lbs (both axles minus front axle) (9350 lb axle rating)
Both Trailer Axles: 8822lbs (seems normal) (each with 5200lb rating)
Rear Trailer Axle: 4400lbs (again, seems normal)
Front Trailer Axle: 4422lbs (both axles minus rear axle... again seems normal)
Sticker in Trailer shows dry weight at factory of 9750lbs and 1848lbs of that being tongue weight. Therefore, dry axle weight should be 7902lbs
This is with 1/2 tank of fuel and 1/2 tank of water, DW and I and Dog
Also, the scale was zero-ed at -420kgs (approx -900lbs)-- this was already factored in above numbers and double/triple checked. Does anyone know why the scale would have been set like that? Is it for an over weight tolerance for the big trucks?
Why is the front axle so heavy?? Is that normal?? Its supposed to be able to hold up a snow plow (not that I have one...). I'm sure the next step is to weigh the truck on its own, but the closest scale is about 50 miles away and I only ever pass by when towing trailer. Anyone have the same truck and know the weight? Any Thoughts or opinions on these numbers?
