I'm thinking about installing a battery disconnect switch; instead of having to take the cover off the battery and unscrew the wing nut every time I want to disconnect or connect the battery. My unit has only one battery. Anyone have any opinions on which ones are the best or any to stay away from. And do you use the Hot or Neg. to disconnect or does it matter. The one below is the one I installed on our old Cruiser. They make a dual battery switch as well.

X2 Blue Seas e-Series, ez surface mount on the compartment divider next to the remote control module which is above the battery. I like the dual battery unit just in case I ever add a second battery.

I put a dual on mine, & hooked the hot wire to it. I put themain power supply that would justgo on thepositive,on "Batt 1". I then put the slides, front & rear jackson"Batt 2" . When I tow, I have it on "Batt 1" for the emergency brakes & refrig to work. When we set up I put on "Both" to set out the slides & jacks. After I set up, I go back to "Batt 1"so the battery can charge & work through the convertor. While on "Batt 1", no one can accidently move the slides& no one can maliciouslymove the jacks up or down. When we store the RV, we turn it to "Off", so the detectors won't run down the battery.

Thanks for the great ideaI installed a dual battery switch last year and I am only one of thetwoterminals.I never even thought of using the second terminal for jacks etc. I now have a project for the weekend.

Arlyn, I had read in another RV Forum, where someone had used an expensive "cut proof" cable, to lock an ATV, to his front jacks. When he returned from an outing, the front of his RV, was sitting on a log, the jacks were raised& theATV was gone. This guy then put his switch on the inside of his front compt. I also saw on that forum, where some kids had lowered someones front jacks, all the way to the frame, while it was unattended at a campsite. My wife has accidently, hit a slide button, while turning on lights in our RV, so I just decided to lock myslides &jacksout with the 2 position battery switch. Works great! Edited by: FFFord

This is what I used.It's a 150Aswitchoverload breaker. I connected it to thePostive cable from the battery.

Some people mentioned that they wired the switch to the positive side of the battery. However, I didn't notice that anyone mentioned that it is the ONLY acceptable way to wire the switch. Putting the switch in the negative side would not only violate standard wiring practice, it could prove to be dangerous. I won't burden the list with an explanation, but if you want to know why I'll respond privately.

I would not recommend the 10 dollar harbor freight switch. spring did not hold & would not stay disconnected. Mine is on the positive side.
